Job summary

A leading Oil and Gas engineering firm is seeking a Buyer in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Buyer will be responsible for procurement activities including negotiation and supplier management specifically for subsea equipment. Candidates should have 10+ years’ experience in an Oil and Gas EPC environment along with strong communication and negotiation skills. This role requires effective procurement strategies and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ procurement experience in an Oil and Gas EPC Company.
  • Confident in commercial contracting and cost modelling.
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for subsea equipment.
  • Manage full RFQ cycle from preparation to award recommendation.
  • Conduct market benchmarking and cost analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering and logistics for approvals and delivery.

Job Overview

Reporting functionally to the SCM Manager, the Buyer is responsible for supporting sourcing, negotiation, contract drafting and revision, procurement activities and supplier management for the project.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Offshore / Subsea experience is a must
  • Other Oil and Gas experience preferred
  • 10+ years’ procurement experience in an Oil and Gas EPC Company
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to define customer needs, understand who the customers are and build effective relationships with them.
  • Ability to handle problems effectively and make appropriate trade-offs that lead to sound decisions.
  • Effective negotiator
  • Strong Knowledge of subsea equipment, including flexible pipes, steel line pipe, steel risers, umbilicals, umbilical control systems, dynamic umbilicals, bend stiffeners, buoyancy modules, subsea valves, diverless connectors, subsea structures and other subsea related products.
  • Confident in commercial contracting, negotiation and cost modelling.
  • Risk Management and problem solving in a fast paced project environment
  • Person must have good communication skills.
  • Must be fluent in English, both written / oral
Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for subsea equipment, including flexible pipes, steel line pipe, steel risers, umbilicals, umbilical control systems, dynamic umbilicals, bend stiffeners, buoyancy modules, subsea valves, diverless connectors, subsea structures and other subsea related products.
  • Manage full RFQ cycle – RFQ package preparation, bid clarification (Commercial & Technical) and Commercial Bid evaluation up to Recommendation of Award
  • Conduct Market Benchmarking and cost analysis.
  • Commercial Negotiation on pricing, payment terms, delivery schedule, warranties, LDs and performance and bank guarantees
  • Draft and administer Purchase orders and contractual amendments in line with the Project Requirements
  • Mitigate contractual and supply chain risk.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Controls, QAQC, logistics to ensure required approvals and delivery.
  • Track Variations, ensure documentation compliance and manage supplier performances.
  • Ensure procurement cycle follows Company policies (UNIFI), Systems adaptation, Client requirements and HSE requirements.
