A leading company in water engineering in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to manage sourcing and negotiation of equipment and materials pivotal for water treatment projects. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely procurement aligned with ISO 9001 standards. A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 3-5 years of procurement experience in the water treatment or EPCC industry are required. Proficiency in Chinese for communication with suppliers is preferred.
Source and obtain competitive quotations for project-related equipment, spare parts, and materials.
Ensure purchasing activities are accurate, timely, and aligned with ISO 9001 procedures and project requirements.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to achieve cost efficiency.
Understand basic engineering concepts and measurements to assess technical requirements.
Compare quotations from 2–3 suppliers in terms of quality, cost, and lead time.
Liaise with suppliers after PO issuance to resolve issues such as defects, returns, pricing adjustments, and claims.
Monitor delivery timelines and ensure goods are delivered according to PO terms and in good condition.
Support research and evaluation of new or alternative products and materials suitable for water and wastewater treatment systems.
Prepare monthly procurement reports covering cost, delivery status, warranty, and supplier performance.
Coordinate with the Process Department to monitor and follow up on outstanding purchase orders.
Maintain updated records of material and equipment pricing.
Support ISO 9001 audits by ensuring proper documentation and records are in place.
Carry out any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the superior.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 to 5 years of hands‑on procurement experience, preferably in the water treatment, wastewater, or EPCC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Commissioning) industry.
Strong negotiation, sourcing, and supplier management skills.
Familiarity with technical components used in water systems (e.g. pumps, valves, filters) is an advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to read and write Chinese for effective communication with overseas / regional suppliers.
Possess own transport and willing to travel when required.
Able to start work immediately or within short notice.
