A leading automation firm in Malaysia is seeking an experienced mechanical designer to lead innovative projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Ideal candidates will possess at least 4 years of experience in mechanical design, a strong command of CAD software, and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively. This role includes conceptualization, prototyping, and project management, alongside a commitment to continuous improvement and compliance with industry standards.
Planning: Collaborate with operational and R&D teams to develop innovative project plans, incorporating cutting‑edge approaches to meet market demands. Contribute to project schedules with a focus on integrating advanced technologies and design methodologies.
Conceptualization and Design: Develop groundbreaking conceptual designs that push the boundaries of traditional engineering solutions. Create detailed mechanical designs using advanced CAD tools and simulation software. Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to evaluate the viability of innovative design concepts.
Prototyping and Test Validation: Design and develop prototypes using advanced techniques to test and validate innovative concepts. Explore and experiment with new materials, manufacturing processes, and technologies to improve product performance and functionality.
Project Management: Oversee/lead engineering projects from concept to completion. Manage timelines, budgets, resources, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams (e.g., electrical, software, production).
Documentation: Create comprehensive design documentation, including product trees, drawings, machine specifications, user manuals, BOM lists, SOPs, and work instructions, ensuring clarity for innovative designs.
Compliance and Standards: Ensure designs meet internal and industry standards/regulations while seeking opportunities to set new benchmarks in engineering excellence. Take part in design reviews to identify improvements and ensure designs are ready for the future.
Continuous Improvement: Propose and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product performance. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive design innovation.
Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into innovative design solutions. Present visionary design proposals and progress updates, showcasing the value of innovative approaches.
Collaboration with Cross‑Functional Teams: Work with electrical, software, sales, and operations teams to support multidisciplinary projects.
Leadership & Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate platforms for sharing innovative ideas, experiences, information and insights across the organization. Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
Accountability and Ownership: Take ownership of innovative projects, from ideation to execution, ensuring they align with organizational goals. Address challenges with creative problem‑solving, delivering both short‑term fixes and long‑term innovative solutions.
Training: Engage in advanced training programs to stay at the forefront of engineering innovation. Apply newly acquired knowledge and skills to drive innovative solutions in design and development.
