Job summary

A leading telecommunications company in Kuala Lumpur seeks a qualified lawyer to handle regulatory affairs and provide legal support. The successful candidate will manage licensing applications, compliance matters, and draft contracts while ensuring adherence to local laws in the Asia-Pacific region. This role requires over 6 years of experience in law, preferably in telecommunications or technology, and the ability to work in a multinational environment.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in handling regulatory affairs and compliance matters.

Job description

Work with Headquarters' Legal Division and APAC Legal team to handle regional regulatory affairs such as telecommunications licence application, renewal, filing, inquiries, and other compliance matters. Provide practical legal solutions to internal stakeholders and advise on various cross border transactions. Support legal affairs and contract management including contract drafting, negotiation, review and approvals etc. Provide internal training and prepare write-up to raise legal awareness and ensure compliance on day-to-day business operations. Conduct legal research on the matter as required and regularly monitor and research on changes in local laws and regulations in the Asia-Pacific Region. Liaise with external counsels and assist in handling ad-hoc projects.

Requirements
  • Degree in Laws (either Common Law or Civil Law)
  • Qualified lawyer would be advantageous
  • A minimum of 6 years' post-graduate experience with at least 4 years relevant in-house (e.g. telecommunications or technology sector) or law firm experience
  • Working experience in a multinational and multicultural business environment is preferred, experience in Chinese company will be a plus.
