🌐 Senior Full Stack Developer – Events Platform (Full-Time / Contract)

About Us: JYQ.com.au is a Chinese event hosting platform based in Australia. We connect event organizers and vendors with the Chinese community through the platform. We’re now looking for a creative, tech-savvy individual to join our team.

Location

Remote (Preferred: Malaysia-based)

We are looking for a skilled Senior Full Stack Developer to lead the technical development of our site — from improving our current WordPress • CMS setup to building scalable features like ticketing, attendee tracking, and potentially helping us transition to a headless WordPress architecture in the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain WordPress websites using custom post types (CPTs) and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
  • Build and structure scalable event, ticket, and attendee data models.
  • Create responsive, SEO-optimized bilingual pages.
  • Integrate custom user flows for event uploads (by admin or organisers), search, and categorization.
  • Build admin tools for staff to bulk upload events easily and manage event content.
  • Work with plugins (e.g., The Events Calendar, WooCommerce, Gravity Forms, etc.) and extend them where necessary.
  • Upload and source events on the website.
  • Create or customize REST API endpoints for external app/frontend use.
  • Optimize site performance through caching, lazy loading, and CDN strategies.
  • Collaborate with marketing and design to improve UI/UX, loading speeds, and SEO.
  • (Optional) Architect and build a headless front-end using React or Next.js.
  • (Optional) Set up a custom GraphQL API or integrate with headless CMS infrastructure.
  • (Optional) Develop a scalable ticketing and user management database structure using custom database tables or external storage.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong experience with WordPress CMS development, including theme and plugin customization.
  • Experience building or migrating to Headless WordPress.
  • Proficient in PHP, JavaScript (Vanilla & jQuery), HTML5, CSS3.
  • Familiarity with React, Next.js, or Vue.js.
  • Familiar with Custom Post Types (CPTs) and Advanced Custom Fields (ACF).
  • Experience with WordPress REST API.
  • Familiarity with custom database structures for large-scale apps.
  • Solid understanding of website performance optimization.
  • Experience with Git or similar version control tools.
  • Good grasp of UI/UX and mobile responsiveness.
  • Able to work independently with clear communication.
Optional Skills
  • Experience using GraphQL (e.g., via WPGraphQL).
  • Knowledge of Stripe or Square payment integration.
  • Experience with multilingual setups (e.g., WPML, Polylang).
  • Understanding of WordPress multisite.
  • Prior work with ticketing, booking, or user submission platforms.

We are looking for Mandarin-speaking candidates who will be working on Chinese and English content.

Salary

MYR 7,000–10,000/month (depending on experience and hours)
