Job Purpose
To supervise and manage the Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) functions at Klang Plant, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal SHE policies. The role includes the implementation of SHE programs, training initiatives, and incident management to support operational safety and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Environmental Compliance
- Ensure all plant operations comply with the Environmental Quality Act 1974 (EQA 1974).
- Monitor and manage emissions performance and reporting as required by the Department of Environment (DOE).
- Scheduled Waste Management
- Administer scheduled waste handling in accordance with DOE requirements, including inventory, reporting, and analysis.
- Serve as the site’s appointed person for scheduled waste compliance.
- Occupational Safety and Health
- Ensure full compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA 1994), Factories and Machinery Act 1967 (FMA 1967), and other relevant regulations.
- Act as secretary of the site safety committee.
- Lead incident investigations and ensure timely reporting.
- Conduct routine inspections and rectify non-conformities.
- Ensure first responders are adequately trained and prepared.
- Fire Protection and Prevention
- Ensure compliance with the Uniform Building By-Laws (UBBL) and BOMBA Act.
- Maintain and plan inspection of fire prevention systems and firefighting equipment.
- SHE Documentation and Records
- Maintain all relevant permits, licenses, approvals, and notifications from regulatory bodies.
- Maintain up-to-date site safety statistics.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of SHE-related reports and conduct risk assessments.
- Training and Awareness
- Plan and conduct SHE training across all staff levels, including onboarding sessions for new hires and contractors.
- Address training gaps and organize periodic drills and refresher programs.
- SHE Programs and Initiatives
- Develop and implement programs to ensure daily plant operations meet SHE standards.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement in crisis management and emergency preparedness.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Degree or higher in Safety, Science, Environmental Health, or equivalent.
- Experience: At least 3 years in a SHE role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Technical Competencies
- Registered DOSH Certified Safety & Health Officer (SHO) Green Book Holder
- Competency in ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems
- Certified First Aider
- Fire Warden Certification (preferred)
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications and Adobe
