Job summary

A leading technology firm in Malaysia is seeking an EHS Executive to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations. The successful candidate will lead the Safety & Health Committee and coordinate internal audits. A degree in a relevant field is required, along with up to 3 years of experience in an electronics manufacturing environment. The role involves training employees and maintaining necessary documentation. This is an onsite position with opportunities for professional growth and development.

Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in a relevant field; registered Green Book holder preferred.
  • 0-3 years’ experience in EHS field in an electronics manufacturing environment.

  • Ensure compliance with EHS policies and local legal requirements.
  • Coordinate with governmental departments for safety and health regulations.

  • Maintain Environmental, Safety & Health documentation and certifications.
  • Train employees on the proper use of PPE.

Job description
  • To ensure that appropriate EHS policies, measures and actions are implemented to meet all local legal requirements and guidelines.
  • Coordinate with all relevant governmental departments to ensure all safety, health and radiation requirements are in compliance to the regulations and requirements.
  • Lead the internal Safety & Health Committee and conduct timely meetings and maintain records to ensure all safety and health requirements are in compliance as required by legislation.
  • Coordinate internal safety and health audit and take corrective action for all non‑compliances identified.
  • Maintain and review the site’s Environmental, Safety & Health policy, documentation, reports and other statutory records as per retention requirements.
  • Take necessary actions to ensure all Competent Person certifications/registrations are always valid.
  • Setup and maintain an active Emergency Response Team (ERT) to support emergency situations in the factory. Conduct or coordinate regular trainings for the ERT members.
  • Ensure Fire Drill is conducted as per the required frequency and take relevant action to maintain the Fire Certificate issued by BOMBA are obtained.
  • Liaise with Facilities Dept. to ensure all firefighting equipment’s and systems are maintained in working condition and relevant authorities’ permit or approval.
  • Ensure all chemicals used in the company are screened before approval and maintain an updated list of all approved chemicals and the SDS. Ensure Chemical Health Risk Assessment (CHRA) is conducted and records are available for all chemicals used in the facilities.
  • Conduct Machine/Equipment buy‑off for all new machineries or equipment before installation in the factory.
  • Conduct regular safety and health risk assessment, take preventive actions and maintain records.
  • Ensure Line Supervisors train their employees on the proper and correct method of using PPE and records.
  • Conduct investigation as soon as possible for occupational accidents or near‑miss cases reported. Report to be submitted to your superior and government agency in a timely manner as required. Senior Management to be consulted or informed for all major accident cases. Maintain the latest statistical data on Lost Time Accident (LTA) and Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR) for II‑VI Malaysia.
  • Ensure all relevant permits for contractors are being effectively enforced. Ensure contractors working on‑site comply with all EHS requirements and take control measures to prevent accident.
Education & Experience
  • Degree/Diploma in Engineering, Science, Quality Management or Equivalent. Preferably a Registered Green Book holder from the Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) Malaysia. Other registered competencies (e.g., registered Radiation Protection Officer under Atomic Agency Licensing Board (AELB) Malaysia or Department of Environment competent person) are an added advantage. Attended relevant environment, safety and health training recognized by DOSH, DOE, NIOSH, AELB and other relevant authorities.
  • 0 to 2 years’ experience in electronics manufacturing environment in EHS field (for EHS Executive). Minimum 3 years’ experience in the EHS field for Senior Executive. Well versed with Malaysian legislation especially related to safety, health and environmental. Candidates without appropriate experience may be accepted by the hiring manager subject to job nature, availability of buddy, duration of learning, etc.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and enjoy the process of problem‑solving.
  • Independent and able to work with minimum guidance or supervision.
  • Able to conduct training in both Bahasa Malaysia and English.
