We are looking for a DWDM Technical Support Engineer to join our Optical Network (Fixed/Wired) team. This role focuses on network modernization, ensuring the smooth operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of OTN/DWDM networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite support at NOC office from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday to Friday).
- Act as the primary point of contact for operational issues related to the network.
- Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot network incidents and performance issues.
- Perform network health inspection and software upgrades as scheduled.
- Provide immediate support for critical incidents, including after‑hours and night support.
- Coordinate with Contractor support teams for issue escalation and resolution.
- Prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct regular training sessions and hands‑on workshops for NOC shift team.
- Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and troubleshooting guides for proposed networks.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years in OTN/DWDM technical support or network operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Hands‑on experience with OTN/DWDM equipment.
- Proficient in WDM and OTN technologies, including troubleshooting and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with EMS/NMS/NPS systems for proposed network solution.
- Effective communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to train and transfer knowledge to internal NOC teams.
- Availability for on‑call support outside of working hours for major outage incidents.
- Experience performing fiber characterization tests (BER Test, OSA, Power Meter).
- Monitor wavelength assignments, power levels, and network degradation.
- Understanding of fiber management, AC/DC wiring, and optical network standards (ITU‑T G.709, G.875).
- Proficiency in Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Office.
- Experience with telecom carriers, ISPs, or enterprise transport networks.
- Knowledge of 5G backhaul, metro fiber, and submarine cable networks is a plus.
- Relevant certifications in DWDM/OTN network technologies preferred.
Other Requirements
- Own transport (car) and willing to travel within East Malaysia.
- Detail‑oriented, independent, and able to handle pressure.
Compensation
Salary will be discussed during the interview and will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and technical proficiency.
