Our team is composed of high‑performing professionals who collaborate across business units to deliver insights that shape strategic decisions. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across departments and geographies, mentoring junior analysts and supporting organisational development initiatives.

About the Role

This position performs complex research and data engineering assignments within an engineering functional area like our APAC Data Analytics group and provides direct input to project plans, schedules, and methodology in the development of cross‑functional programs. It also performs data‑engineering design across multiple systems, mentors more junior members of the team, and translates user and customer requests into solutions.

As a Senior Data Engineer II, you will design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and Lakehouse architectures that power advanced analytics and AI initiatives across the region. The role demands an automation‑first mindset and agentic thinking, proactively identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual intervention, and embed intelligent automation into data processes. You will work closely with data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and secure while driving innovation and mentoring team members to elevate engineering standards across APAC.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily data loads ensuring recurring updates are logged and tracked.
  • Interface with other technical personnel or team members to document, interpret, and finalize requirements.
  • Produce code that is efficient, repeatable, without defects, and adherent to best practices such as naming conventions, encapsulation, etc.
  • Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of data components.
  • Complete complex data engineering bug fixes and issues, researching and identifying root causes as appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to apply automation or other tools to improve effectiveness or efficiency.
  • Work closely with other development team members to understand complex product requirements and translate them into data engineering and/or data management designs.
  • Innovate process improvements that enable efficient delivery and maintenance.
  • Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews.
  • Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Identify areas where it is an advantage to work with other teams to improve overall quality, and, with peers or others, implement initiatives improving capabilities and efficiency.
  • Train entry‑level data engineers as directed by department management, ensuring they are knowledgeable in critical aspects of their roles.
  • Keep abreast of new technology developments.
  • Design and work with complex data models.
Requirements
  • 5+ years in data management area with a technical competency required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred (Computer Engineering / Computer Science / Information Systems preferred but not required); or equivalent experience required.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Strong proficiency with data manipulation language including optimization techniques.
  • Strong understanding of normalized/dimensional data modelling principles.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple data storage subsystems including logging, metrics, traces.
  • Expertise in development languages including but not limited to: Python, SQL, Apache Spark, Scala, Java, Unix/Linux basics. Data formats: JSON, XML, CSV.
  • Deep fluency in Databricks / Azure / AWS / GIT + working knowledge of the others.
  • Extensive knowledge of data engineering principles, particularly in architecting and optimizing ETL workflows.
  • Strong knowledge in MS Fabric / Power BI / Tableau.
  • Knowledge in using and developing in applicable toolsets.
  • Data prep for LLMs, Agent Orchestration, and Automation & Event‑Driven Workflows.
  • Ability to interface competently with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
  • Ability to work well with internal and external technology resources.
  • Knowledge of test‑driven development.
  • Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.
  • Understanding of automation/other tools to increase efficiency.
  • Strong problem solving and research skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve process inefficiencies (e.g., bugs) in the repository.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
