Job Description
The Senior Accountant Malaysia is responsible for reporting to the Regional Finance Leader in a timely manner on any potential issues, assessing risks and proposing strategic measures as a business partner. While working autonomously, this role needs to effectively manage the transactions performed by the Business Centre.
In addition, this role will also be expected to interact regularly with the various teams on necessary matters. This position also works closely with the Office Administration person based in KL.
Job Summary

Business Partner
- Responsible for providing financial information as applicable to business streams.
- Support the Controllers as required.
- Support financial and commercial projects as applicable.
- Responsible for validating any OPEX or CAPEX of the various teams before any commitment to a third party as applicable.
Accounting & Tax
- Safeguard and protect the company’s financial assets.
- Management of tasks covering General Ledger and Fixed Asset, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- Management of revenue recognition as per applicable incoterms and policy, while working closely with local staff and Business Centre staff for Supply Chain and Customer Care.
- Deliver a controlled and streamlined month-end process.
- Ensuring compliance and adherence to internal policies.
- Ensuring compliance and adherence to local GAAP and statutory requirements.
- Liaison with internal and external auditors.
- Production of annual statutory accounts as per Local GAAP.
- Responsible for all statutory returns: Company Tax, Transfer Pricing, Indirect Tax Returns, Withholding Tax and Payroll-related filings.
- Responsible for Malaysia insurance premiums.
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing (U.S. GAAP) in a timely manner.
- Adhere to the highest ethical standards, demonstrate empathetic disposition and perseverance, and reflect an optimistic and positive attitude.
- Work effectively with the local IT partner to efficiently meet IT & T requirements for Malaysia.
- Leading and working on global/regional projects as applicable.
- Managing applicable Malaysian contractual requirements.
Job Requirements
Education
- Fully or part-qualified accountant with tertiary education in Finance and/or Accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting certification preferred (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CA, or CIMA).
- Membership with a recognized professional accounting body (e.g., Malaysian Institute of Accountants – MIA) is an advantage.
Experience
- 7–10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong experience in daily accounting operations, e.g. tax regulations, e-invoicing, and full set of accounts (AP, AR, GL).
- Knowledge of financial reporting standards, taxation, and auditing principles.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA is preferred.
- Experience working in a matrix organization.
- Experience working with a Business Centre.
- Experience with reporting platforms.
