Regarding the role, it’s as the job title says really, you will be selling our hotel in all the right markets, at the right time, to the right people.

You will need to use your great communication skills and build strong relationships with our client base and continually build this base through our sales and marketing strategy.

It’s a physical role and although there are the usual meetings and briefings, and of course emails to check, you will be on your feet most of the day out and about in the community and beyond meeting with current and future clients, as well as chatting with our guests and your team, so fitness will be key for you, although reasonable adjustments will be made where we can.

Your day‑to‑day:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Implement sales and marketing plans to achieve revenue goals.
  • Optimize a list of accounts that you manage and are accountable for.
  • Continually reinforce sales presentations and come up with new and exciting ways to deliver messages.
  • Develop positive working relationship with existing customers for repeat business.
  • Explore new business opportunities with potential customers.
  • Represent the Hotel in OwnCo meetings should the opportunity arise.
  • Negotiate with customers based on the established company guidelines.
  • Ensure quality services and operations by building trustful and positive relationships with customers and co‑workers.
  • Be involved in the budget process and any strategy documents.
  • Maintain accurate and complete sales operational and transaction records.
  • Answer customer queries in accurate and timely manner.
  • Prioritize sales tasks based on revenue goals and deadlines.
  • Develop strong customer relationships to widen customer base and marketing opportunities.
  • Maintain company databases and maintain confidentiality in line with IHG standards and procedures.
  • Interact with customers to get feedback on products and services offered
  • Required to work nights, weekends and/or holidays, in line with business needs
  • Effectively manage all aspects of the department’s operation to ensure that the services of the Department are delivered to guests or internal customers with the aim of exceeding guest expectations and in accordance with IHG’s standards and procedures.
  • Set goals and targets for subordinates, their growth is your growth, help them achieve their targets to fully achieve yours.
  • Align management style, working practices and conduct with Kimpton values and standards. To comply with IHG’s Code of Conduct at all times. Lead by example.
  • Take responsibility for the co‑ordination and monitoring of all sales related business, from initial booking where possible through to complete handover.
  • May be required to travel for trade show and exhibitions, sales calls and sales missions, maintaining professionalism while representing the company at all times.
  • Perform site inspections, and be well versed in Kimpton brand standards, as part of the selling style and work with key differentiators.
  • Arrange group/VIP check‑ins in liaison with Front Office Manager and Reservations (Group) GSA.
  • Make sure all back of house billing facilities are accurately delivered to finance department.
  • Attend weekly Department Head meetings, and monthly Sales Meetings and other Management meetings as required.
  • Set budgets and prepare forecasts for the department after analyzing business in diary and expected pick‑up. Be able to explain surplus and shortfalls against budget; highlight wins and explain/learn from losses.
  • Implement/suggest corrective measures in the instance of unsatisfactory guest comments and/or work practices.
  • Be actively involved and support Hotel training programs, performance management and development of the Events Team.
  • Be aware of cyclical events and be pro‑active in planning.
  • Analyze and respond to guest feedback, guest satisfaction and employee satisfaction information; and give a positive commitment to continuous improvement of product and performance.
  • Responsible for the day‑to‑day management of associates working in the Department
  • Apply Kimpton culture by demonstrating the standards at all times to guests and fellow associates.
  • Undertake additional duties as requested by the Director of Sales + Marketing.
  • Personally ensure compliance with all relevant Workplace Health & Safety and Occupational Health & Safety legislation, and related Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur and IHG Policies.
