Sales Account Manager (Defense & National Security)
The Defense & National Security Sales Manager is responsible for driving business development, account management, and strategic engagements within defense, intelligence, public safety, and national security agencies. This role requires strong experience in government sales, understanding of security-sensitive procurement, and the ability to position trusted, sovereign-by-design technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute sales strategies targeting Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, law enforcement, and national security bodies
- Identify, qualify, and manage opportunities for secure storage, AI infrastructure, and sovereign data solutions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior government stakeholders, defense officials, and procurement units
- Manage long sales cycles, RFIs, RFPs, and tender processes in compliance with government procurement frameworks
Account & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned defense and national security accounts
- Coordinate internal teams (technical, engineering, legal, compliance) to deliver proposals and solutions
- Work with strategic partners, system integrators, and local consortium members for joint bids
- Ensure customer satisfaction, long‑term account growth, and contract renewals
- Position MaiStorage’s offerings around data sovereignty and regulatory compliance
- Understand and articulate requirements related to:
- Classified and sensitive data handling
- On‑premises and air‑gapped systems
- Cybersecurity, encryption, and secure key management
- Track defense and national security programs, budgets, and upcoming tenders
- Provide market feedback to management on customer needs, competitor positioning, and policy trends
- Prepare regular sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and strategic account updates
Requirements
Experience & Background
- 3–6 years of experience in government, defense, or national security sales
- Proven track record selling IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, storage, AI platforms, or mission‑critical systems to government or defense customers
- Strong familiarity with public sector procurement processes, tenders, and framework agreements
- Experience working with system integrators, OEMs, or defense contractors is highly preferred
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills at senior levels
- Ability to communicate solutions in a clear, trusted manner
- Understanding of security, compliance, and sovereign technology principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia
