A construction safety firm located in Kluang, Malaysia, is seeking a qualified Safety and Health Officer. You will be responsible for developing and implementing safety policies, conducting regular inspections, and leading training sessions. The ideal candidate has a Certified SHO from NIOSH and experience in a safety role within the construction industry. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential. This role offers an opportunity to be pivotal in promoting a safety culture in the workplace.
Develop, implement, and maintain safety and health policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Lead and facilitate safety training sessions and programs for employees at all levels.
Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with findings and recommendations.
Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Ensure that all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are properly maintained and used.
Keep up-to-date with industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and proactive risk management.
Liaise with regulatory bodies (DOSH, NIOSH, DOE, BOMBA, MOH, JKJR, etc) to ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
To carry out any other duties as and when instructed by Site Manager from time to time.
Certified SHO with Green Book from NIOSH.
Proven working experience in a safety and health role, preferably within construction industry.
In depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to lead and influence a diverse team with a focus on safety.
Good report preparation and interpersonal skills with internal and external parties.
