We are seeking a talented individual to join our Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs (LCPA) team at Guy Carpenter, a Marsh business. This role will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office.

As Regional Legal and Compliance Counsel for Asia Pacific, you will be the firm’s primary regulatory point of contact and will lead the implementation of legal and compliance strategies, processes and objectives across the Asia Pacific region.

We will count on you to:

  • Serve as Guy Carpenter’s contact with regulators and provide prompt regulatory advice and support.
  • Manage regulatory filings, examinations, inspections, and audits, and monitor regulatory changes to drive compliance.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures, promote a culture of integrity and compliance, and conduct trainings and communications.
  • Conduct investigations into legal, compliance, and ethics issues, and manage Errors & Omissions and policy breaches.
  • Facilitate risk management processes, conduct risk assessments, and manage risk committees.
  • Act as data privacy officer, anti-money laundering officer, and data and AI governance counsel.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and other corporate activities, including managing the corporate secretarial function.
  • Provide legal and regulatory advice, draft, review and negotiate contracts, and engage and manage outside counsel.

What you need to have:

  • Recognised legal qualification and admission to practise law in the local jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 5 years’ post‑qualification experience in a law firm or in‑house legal or compliance role.
  • Experience in (re)insurance or financial services sectors.
