A seafood company in Malaysia is seeking a Procurement and Logistics Officer to manage purchasing and inventory responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have a degree in business administration or supply chain management, with at least 3 years of experience in the seafood industry. Proficiency in Mandarin and strong negotiation skills are essential. You will coordinate with suppliers and monitor budget efficiency, ensuring optimal stock levels and effective communication with the sales team.
Responsible for all the PR and PO job scopes.
Verify invoice details and post them into the SAP system.
Assist in monitoring budgets, costs, and cost savings on products.
Identify slow-moving inventory and implement strategies to reduce inventory write-offs.
Monitor and follow up with the sales team to forecast quantity for upcoming demand levels.
Liaise with the operation and sales teams for stock transfers from the 3PL warehouse and ensure the accuracy of the stock balance at 3PL.
Coordinate with the operation teams to ensure accurate stock‑in quantities and accuracy in the SAP system.
Verify the stock discrepancy.
Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analysis.
Responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials from both local & overseas suppliers.
Maintain strong working relationships with our suppliers, both local and overseas.
Stay up‑to‑date with industry trends & establish long‑term purchasing arrangements with suppliers.
Work on QC for the yearly vendor evaluation.
Assist in liaising with the forwarding company on import and export shipments.
Assist in applying for the license with the authorities for all shipments.
Assist in preparing documents on air‑flown shipments during the absence of the subordinate.
Liaise with the supplier on the delivery arrangements.
Responsible for hiring junior staff and providing on‑the‑job training & coaching.
Attend meetings & trade shows if needed.
Assist the manager for the marketing event if needed.
Minimum degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related discipline with 3 years of similar experience, preferably in the seafood industry.
Must be able to consume raw seafood, wagyu beef, and sake/wine as part of business needs.
Language skills: preferably both written and spoken in Mandarin and English. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin‑speaking clients.
A candidate familiar with import and export procedures, including prohibited, special permit, and taxable items, will be an added advantage.
Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
Possess exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
