Job description

We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join our engineering team in Kulai, Johor. Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer is responsible to ensure the job is constructed according to the approved submittal & specifications; and assist project controls, including but not limited to progress claim, scheduling, site planning and quality of works. Project Engineer also in charge of performance management of vendors or sub-contractors, to ensure projects are completed according to project plans.

What you'll be doing

• Work within the engineering team and be involved in procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up.
• Review technical inquiries and submittal from vendors or sub-contractors.
• Provide budgetary proposal based on site situation and meeting technical requirements.
• Lead on testing, commissioning and start-up activities with support from technical engineer.
• Assist technical engineer for preparation and submission of engineering design documentation and procurement packages.
• Assist Quantity Surveyor for progress claim and verify supplier or sub-contractor’s claim.
• Take part in project planning and scheduling, cost control and project commercial aspects.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing, logistics and installation phases.
• Coordinate as well as technically clarify with local and international suppliers and sub-contractors.
• Prepare and organize documentation according to the company and project requirements.
• Ensure that incoming materials and site installation are in accordance with approved specifications, procedures and requirements.
• Ensuring that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to.
• Guide junior Engineer on the assigned task.
• Any other tasks as assigned by superior.

What we're looking for

• Degree in Civil / Electrical / Mechanical / Process / Chemical or a related field
• 5+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or in a similar role, preferably in the Building & Construction Works Engineering and construction industry
• Site experience and exposure.
• Familiarity with local and international codes, standards, and regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings.
• Proficient in MS Project and PowerPoint.
• Strong coordination, communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Leadership, initiative, teamwork, adaptability, creative and analytical thinking.
• Positive, customer-focused, able to work within budgets and deadlines, flexible with work hours.
• Able to liaise effectively with clients, authorities, contractors, and consultants.
• Willing to travel or relocate within North/Central/South Malaysia.
• The position primarily with BPX Sdn Bhd (a member of Boustead Projects Limited).
