The Programme Director (PD) at King Henry VIII College (KH8) is responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of the school’s co-curricular and enrichment provision. This ensures that students benefit from a balanced and holistic education that extends beyond the classroom, fostering personal growth, leadership, creativity, and global citizenship. The PD will also be responsible for the intervention programme for students with reduced timetables or EAL needs.
The position complements the work of academic and pastoral leaders but does not assume responsibility for academic performance or university placement.
This role will report directly to the Head of Senior School and work closely with the Deputy Head Pastoral and Deputy Head Academic.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of a whole-school enrichment strategy.
- Oversee the CCA programme (sports, performing arts, service learning, clubs, innovation projects).
- Develop an annual enrichment calendar, ensuring alignment with the academic timetable.
- Support progression from Year 7–13 through co-curricular experiences.
- Build programmes with external providers and companies to enhance opportunities for students.
- Introduce and manage high-impact enrichment initiatives (debating, Model UN, service learning projects, arts showcases).
- Coordinate resources, scheduling, and logistics for high impact enrichment initiatives.
- Collaborate with staff and external partners to deliver high-quality provision.
- Lead the organisation of an annual Enrichment & CCA Showcase.
Student Engagement & Outcomes
- Set goals for participation and quality of experience in CCA and enrichment programmes.
- Monitor participation rates and outcomes; implement feedback loops.
- Collect evidence of student achievement (e.g. certificates, competition results).
- Developing student profiles of extra-curricular activities to support character development and university applications.
- Work closely with Deputy Heads Pastoral.
- Collaborate with Heads of Faculty to complement curriculum opportunities.
- Communicate with parents and students regarding enrichment opportunities.
Reporting & Accountability
- Provide termly reports to SLT and the Board.
- Track KPIs such as participation rates and student achievement.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding and school policies.
This role oversees the planning and implementation of:
- The intervention programme for students with a reduced academic timetable
- The exam intervention programme for those students who are supported by EAL when not in
- Launch 3–5 new structured enrichment programmes.
- Achieve ≥60% student participation across secondary CCAs.
- Host the first Annual Enrichment & CCA Showcase.
- Implement an enrichment tracking and reporting system.
- Submit three termly reports to SLT and Board with evidence of outcomes.
- Collate and use parent feedback to enhance programmes.

What We Need
- Extensive experience (10+ years) in the education industry, with a proven track record of leading successful education programmes
- Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive plans to drive growth and innovation
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of education professionals
- In-depth understanding of the education landscape, including current trends, regulations, and best practices
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with a diverse range of partners and stakeholders
- A postgraduate degree in education, business, or a related field, with relevant professional certifications or memberships
