Job summary

A manufacturing company in Penang seeks a Production Manager responsible for formulating production plans, ensuring quality compliance, and managing team performance. Candidates should have a diploma in Production Management or a relevant field along with 2-3 years of experience in operations management. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential, and proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. The ability to speak Mandarin is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Production and Operations Management or relevant field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant operation management experience.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel.
  • Able to speak, write, and read in Mandarin will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and allocate production plans according to company objectives to ensure on-time completion.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials to optimize capacity utilization.
  • Monitor order progress, handle production issues, and report to management.
  • Ensure compliance with the quality management system and maintain product standards.
  • Analyze root causes of quality issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Control production costs (labor, material, scrap, energy, etc.).
  • Manage team leaders and operators, assign tasks, and provide guidance.
  • Implement training programs and improve employee skills and flexibility.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and motivate to enhance team stability and productivity.
  • Implement 5S/6S and visual management to maintain an efficient workplace.
  • Establish and enforce safety procedures to prevent incidents.
  • Analyze production data (efficiency, quality, cost, waste, etc.) and propose improvements.

Production Planning & Coordination

Formulate and allocate production plans according to company objectives to ensure on-time completion. Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials to optimize capacity utilization. Monitor order progress, handle production issues, and report to management.

Quality & Cost Control

Ensure compliance with the quality management system and maintain product standards. Analyze root causes of quality issues and drive corrective actions. Control production costs (labor, material, scrap, energy, etc.).

Team & Performance Management

Manage team leaders and operators, assign tasks, and provide guidance. Implement training programs and improve employee skills and flexibility. Conduct performance evaluations and motivate to enhance team stability and productivity.

Equipment & Shopfloor Management

Implement 5S/6S and visual management to maintain an efficient workplace. Develop and enforce shopfloor management standards.

Safety & Compliance

Establish and enforce safety procedures to prevent incidents. Conduct safety training and drills regularly. Support ISO, customer audits, and regulatory compliance.

Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement

Analyze production data (efficiency, quality, cost, waste, etc.) and propose improvements. Promote lean manufacturing, automation, and process optimization projects. Track improvement results and continuously optimize.

Cross-Department Collaboration

Coordinate with planning, purchasing, engineering, quality, and warehouse departments. Participate in new product introduction, process changes, and production line optimization. Handle customer complaints and major production issues.

Job Requirements
  • Diploma or higher qualification in Production and Operations Management or other relevant field.
