Summary

This is an entry training level for a supervisory role. This job is a working level and typically reports into a first‑level manager. Provides leadership to employees performing routine work within a single function or work group. Work is performed within established professional standards and practices. Receives detailed assignments and follows established processes to meet the goals of the unit. Develops schedules and enforces policies and procedures. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the department’s operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. Provides direction to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks and checking work at regular intervals. Directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Provides input for employees performance reviews and compensation reviews; recommends disciplinary action as necessary. Interacts directly with subordinates and peer groups; engages in routine exchanges of information; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, would be monitored.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Receives a daily production schedule from planning; receives material to manufacture, modify or repair products from logistics.
  • Co‑ordinates these inputs and a variety of resources (e.g., materials, personnel, equipment, etc.) to achieve on‑time production of quality products within budget guidelines.
  • Identifies and resolves bottlenecks in the production process.
  • Management of controllable operating expenditure e.g. scrap, consumables. Identifies limits to production and guides teams to continuously improve processes.
  • Ensures all return to work interviews and first level disciplinary hearings are conducted in a timely, consistent, and professional manner.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
  • Knowledge of the production process and the tools and equipment used in the process.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business unit and how decisions impact customer satisfaction, product quality, on‑time delivery and the profitability of the unit (WOR/MOR/RCCP).
  • Ability to coordinate a wide variety of resources to meet production quality and quantity metrics.
  • Knowledge of ISO Standards and Company Continuous Improvement Initiatives.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage, train, and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve high production levels within tight time deadlines and in a highly dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use some or all of the following PC applications: Word, Lotus Notes, Excel, PowerPoint.
Physical Demands
  • Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
  • Duties may require periodic sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Above demands are carried out within the local existing Health and Safety guidelines.

  • Four to six years of relevant experience.
