Purpose of the Job
This position involves evaluating and developing current and new products to meet specifications. The technical product engineer leader collaborates with factory personnel to integrate materials, methods, and tools necessary for bringing new and existing products to meet safety, quality, and market demands.
Key Accountabilities
- Set up, monitor, and update the workflow process, job descriptions, and scope.
- Oversee product care within product engineering.
- Evaluate, approve, and release new component designs for safety, cost, functionality, manufacturability, and stock management.
- Maintain and update the Engineering Change Request sheet daily.
- Assign and filter change request tasks accordingly.
- Coordinate with cross-functional sourcing teams for technical consultations.
- Manage spreader parental data in Vault.
- Provide alternative or improved solutions to change requests.
- Track progress of change requests to ensure timely delivery and compliance with technical specifications.
- Collaborate with external departments to ensure quality design, cost efficiency, and performance.
- Prepare and publish internal/external service bulletins regarding changes.
- Approve and release new replacement components for cost reduction and functionality.
- Establish and evaluate test procedures for product quality assurance.
- Manage QSR related to parental changes in ECR.
- Maintain the product database in Vault.
- Participate in professional development activities to keep technical knowledge current.
Job Requirements
Education- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience- 3-5 years in crane, mechanical gearboxes, and drives
- Experience in designing container handling equipment, such as spreaders
Skills- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (preferably Inventor) and PDM systems
- Knowledge of GD&T and industrial standards
- Understanding of steel design, welding, and manufacturing processes
- Familiarity with hydraulics and transmission systems
- Knowledge of gear motor selection and sizing
- Understanding of mechanical standards and directives
- Ability to write detailed technical reports
- Compliance with CE standards for mechanical/structural components
- Fluent in spoken and written English
