Job summary

A manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a Product Development Specialist to lead new projects and develop a technical understanding of products. The ideal candidate should have a diploma/degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical fields and a minimum of 1 year of experience in product development, ideally within foam manufacturing. Responsibilities include assisting with prototype testing, leading projects, and working closely with the Business Development Manager to improve plant performance. Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities are essential.

Job description

1. Develop technical understanding of products brought to market.
2. Lead new product development projects assigned by superior or customer input and requirement.
3. Assist team with prototype test, generating report, measure performance metrics and deliver new innovation product.
4. Help to organize go-to-market, digital marketing campaigns and trade fairs/conferences events promoting newly launched products within local/overseas market and coordinate/execute workshop (example: JKR).
5. Liaise with respective department to create a product plan that identifies the product scope and objectives for new products.
6. Provide technical support, problem solving and identifying root cause.
7. Participating and exchanging knowledge in process, technology, material and product technology.
8. Participates in the commissioning of newly installed equipment, including the development of commissioning process for machinery.
9. Flexibility in work schedule to support operations during initial stage of mass production.
10. Active support and participation in driving reliability initiatives through root cause analysis, idea generation and project execution.
11. Recommends process and equipment modifications to improve plant performance.
12. Assist and work closely with Business Development Manager to expedite task carry out and undertake extra responsibility from time to time as assigned by Superior.
13. Report the progress of the projects through monthly progress report.

Job Requirement

1. Diploma/degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical or related field.
2. Minimum 1-year experience in product development field
3. Candidates with experience in similar manufacturing products or an equivalent industry, such as foam manufacturing will have an added advantage.
4. Skills required in problem-solving, advanced MS office, manpower management and supervision, decision making ability and leadership, time management and organization
5. Excellent in verbal and written communication as well as in team working
6. Familiar with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
