Job summary

A prominent food and beverage company in Malaysia is seeking a procurement specialist to source and select suppliers for food ingredients and packaging. Responsibilities include managing purchase orders, negotiating terms, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a Diploma or Degree in a related field and experience in F&B procurement. Strong negotiation and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities
  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers for food ingredients, packaging, and store operational items.
  • Request and review quotations, ensuring competitive pricing and quality that meets F&B standards.
  • Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Manage purchase orders and track deliveries to ensure timely supply to outlets/central kitchen.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate closely with Store Managers and Warehouse teams.
  • Ensure all purchased items comply with food safety, HALAL (if applicable), and regulatory requirements.
  • Handle supply issues, shortages, or quality disputes with suppliers.
  • Maintain and update supplier lists, prices, and purchasing records.
  • Support menu changes, new product launches, and seasonal promotions with timely sourcing.
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities while maintaining product quality.
  • Work with Finance on invoice verification and payment matters.
Qualifications
  • Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Procurement, Food Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in F&B or retail procurement is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of food products, shelf life, and storage requirements.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and purchasing software/ERP.
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Having knowledge of HALAL requirements is an added advantage.
  • Experience working with suppliers for perishable goods.
  • Familiar with inventory management systems.
