We are expanding our Technology Centre in Kuala Lumpur and looking for passionate individuals with an excellence and compete to win mindset to drive change in our business, and who enjoy working in dynamic, collaborative, and diverse global teams.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Process Engineer with at least five years of experience in Polyolefins, Butyl, or Elastomers processes to join our Polymers Process Engineering group at the Kuala Lumpur Technology Center. This role is based in Kuala Lumpur and may require international business travel depending on business needs. Flexibility to work across different time zones is essential. Please note that this position is not located at a manufacturing facility.

What you will do
  • Take a leading role in developing and implementing process engineering improvement initiatives for Polyolefins, Butyl, and Elastomer processes, including Reaction and Finishing.
  • Establish robust tools for Global ExxonMobil Polymer sites to identify and advance improvement opportunities, prioritize projects, and support business decisions.
  • Enhance the efficiency and reliability of polyolefins/elastomer finishing processes.
  • Support manufacturing assets improvement activities including but not limited to development of design basis and lead/support manufacturing trials.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and initiate sustainable implementations.
  • Stay current with developments in process simulation tools and seek new solutions to enhance profitability.
  • Influence decision‑making by introducing new ideas, enhancements, and improvements to existing finishing processes.
  • Mentor and develop young engineers.
About you
Skills and Qualifications

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher), preferably in chemical engineering or mechanical engineering, with relevant experience in Polyolefins, Butyl or Elastomers process manufacturing.
  • Be able to demonstrate the following:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external customers
    • Innovative and analytical thinking
    • Intellectual rigor, strong drive, and desire to improve processes
  • Ability to work in a multi‑cultural global team
  • Possess a minimum of five years’ experience in Polyolefins, Butyl or Elastomers processes
  • Skilled in identifying opportunities within existing process conditions and implementing improvement ideas
  • Have an in‑depth understanding of fundamental Polyolefins/Butyl/Elastomer process engineering and troubleshooting
  • Ability to handle workload efficiently while maintaining high‑quality standards and adapting to shifting priorities

Preference will be given to those with the following additional skills / abilities:

  • Hands‑on experiences in process modelling / simulation tools
