Plant Manager (Manufacturing / Operations) | Johor | Up MYR 18K per month

Our client is an established regional manufacturing group embarking on the setup of a new production facility in Johor Bahru. This is a key leadership appointment for an experienced, hands‑on Plant Manager who will play a pivotal role in building operational foundations, shaping performance culture, and ensuring operational excellence from day one.

This role offers a rare opportunity to be involved in greenfield operations, working closely with regional leadership to implement proven operating standards, governance, and workflows within a growing manufacturing environment.

The Opportunity

As Plant Manager, you will be responsible for leading the establishment, commissioning, and stabilisation of the Johor facility, while ensuring strong alignment with regional operating standards and compliance requirements. You will oversee end‑to‑end plant operations, from equipment installation and workforce build‑up to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the setup and commissioning of a new manufacturing plant, ensuring structured workflows and operating discipline.
  • Implement and uphold standard operating procedures across production, quality, maintenance, safety, and administration.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and lead the plant workforce, fostering a strong performance and accountability culture.
  • Oversee equipment installation, vendor coordination, and end‑to‑end production flow optimisation.
  • Ensure consistent product quality, operational efficiency, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.
  • Manage materials planning, inventory control, inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Act as the primary local liaison with vendors, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure full compliance with Malaysian statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide regular operational reporting, KPIs, and performance updates to regional stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
  • Diploma or Degree in Printing Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related discipline.
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in printing or manufacturing operations.
  • Proven experience in new plant setup, facility expansion, or major operational transformation.
  • Strong leadership capability with hands‑on experience managing production teams.
  • Solid understanding of quality systems, safety management, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Strong discipline in implementing corporate SOPs and governance frameworks.
  • Comfortable working with regional stakeholders and adapting to cross‑border operating standards.
