Job Title: Planning & Material Controller
Job Summary
The Planning & Material Controller is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and controlling the flow of materials from suppliers to production to ensure timely availability, optimal inventory levels, and smooth manufacturing operations. This role works closely with purchasing, warehouse, production, and logistics teams to support efficient production planning and cost-effective material management.
Key Responsibilities
- Material Planning & Forecasting
- Develop and manage material requirement plans based on production schedules, sales forecasts, and inventory levels.
- Monitor material consumption trends and adjust planning accordingly.
- Analyze shortages and identify potential risks to production continuity.
- Inventory Management
- Maintain optimal stock levels to avoid overstock and stockout situations.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and reconcile discrepancies.
- Coordinate slow-moving, obsolete, or excess stock analysis and recommend actions.
- Production Planning Support
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure material readiness for all planned orders.
- Update and adjust production schedules based on material availability and supplier performance.
- Provide real-time updates on material status to relevant stakeholders.
- Work closely with the procurement team to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Track supplier performance (lead time, delivery accuracy, quality issues).
- Assist in identifying alternative suppliers when needed.
- Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, material movements, and planning data in ERP/MRP systems.
- Prepare reports on material status, inventory trends, consumption, and planning accuracy.
- Monitor KPIs such as inventory turnover, material variance, and on-time availability.
- Process Improvement
- Participate in cost reduction initiatives through improved planning strategies and waste reduction.
- Assist in enhancing material planning workflows, SOPs, and system usage for better efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement projects in warehouse, supply chain, and production processes.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in material planning, production planning, or inventory control (manufacturing environment preferred).
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes and MRP/ERP systems.
- Proficient in Excel and planning tools.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, coordination, and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented with good time management.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Mandarin speaking capability will be an advantage.
