A reputable construction company in Kota Tinggi seeks a Project Assistant to support the Project Manager in planning and ensuring project compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate should have a Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, along with 3-5 years of civil or marine construction experience. Proficiency in scheduling tools is essential, and excellent communication skills are required. Knowledge of ISO and OSHA standards will be an added advantage.
To assist the Project Manager in the planning of project construction in compliance with safety standards and regulations and to keep the plan activities within the project quality requirements to ensure smooth work progression and completion within target time and budget according to plans laid out.
Support in gathering pertinent data, analysing alternatives and performing related calculations
Create projected milestone and operational plans for different phases of assigned projects which includes scheduling, monitoring and reviewing of the work of others, including contractors.
Prepare and interpret engineering plans and specifications and communicating technical requirements to contractors.
Determine project requirements and estimates resources by allocating correct resources such as manpower, materials and equipment.
Managing job costing in preparation through Bill of Quantities and quotation with the Quantity Surveying Team.
Provides input into the preparation of contracts and participates in the revisions of contractual agreements with all stakeholders (e.g. contracts, business development architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors).
Development of WBS (Work Breakdown Structures) able to suit the project for project control purpose
Develop PMS Progress Measurement Systems for the assigned projects to reflect the real progress on site
To perform Earned Value Analysis for the project
Preparation of construction schedules, resource (and cost) loaded
To monitor and analyze deviations from the scope of work on relating to schedule, resources and cost, and propose corrective measures to bring the projects back to plan before giving notice to team members.
Preparation and submission of daily, weekly and monthly progress report with statistics and data analysis.
Monitor and conduct inspection of the quality and workmanship of the sub-contractors the work process phase and completion phase of projects with clients.
Manage project shut down by through documentation to ensure all finances closed-out; capturing lessons learned; contract closed and updates on all company process assets.
Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Oil/Petrochemical Industry Safety Course for Supervisors (added advantage)
Minimum 3–5 years relevant experience in civil or marine construction
Experience in planning, scheduling, and project coordination preferred
ISO and OSHA standards
Understanding of construction processes and site operations
Proficient in scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and general MS Office applications
Ability to interpret and understand detailed engineering drawings
Capable of developing effective Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for project control
Able to prepare project measurement procedures and determine weightages according to company and client standards
Skilled in creating accurate project plans, setting priorities, and defining milestones
Strong negotiation and coordination skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to speak an additional Asian language (e.g., Mandarin, Bahasa Melayu) is an added advantage
