Job description

· Provide basic nursing care/ services under the guidance of their Supervisors.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve all patients with care and compassion with respect to their spiritual and cultural beliefs.
• Answer call bells and assist accordingly.
• Assist walking patients to toilet, bath and shower, assist them with use of bedpans and on to wheelchairs and trolleys.
• Send/ collect patients to and from wards/ clinics/ departments.
• Assist patients with meals.
• Prepare bed for admission of patients.
• Send and collect sets to and from Central Sterile Supply Unit.
• Ensure soiled linen is bagged and sent to the soiled storage room. Check and store away clean linen in the linen room / closed cupboard.
• Collect and Store consumable items appropriately.
• Maintain tidiness of wards/ patients room and cleanliness of assigned area or unit.
• Assist Staff Nurse in basic nursing care of ambulant/ non-ambulant patients e..: pressure area care.
• Ensure all chargeable items used for patients are duly recorded for accurate billing purposes.
• Record intake and output chart correctly.
• Male PCAs to assist in shaving and assisting in bed and toilet bath of male patients.
• Assist Staff Nurse in disinfecting of equipments and items on discharge of patients.
• Carry out work as assigned or requested.

Specialist Clinic PCA

• Prepare the consultation room for the days' session and in between, up-keep and update in readiness for the next session.
• Greet patients and assist "new" patients to register before doctors' consultation.
• Accompany at all time male doctors during procedures and examination of all female patients.
• Prepare and make available all the medical records for scheduled patients the day before the appointment date.
• Work with the frontline reception staff for smooth movement of the patients going for diagnostic procedures e.g. Laboratory, X-ray and admission.
• Verify that all administrative processes are complete and correct before carrying out any procedures e.g. Forms are filled correctly with patients' name and registration number.
• Be sensitive to occupational health and safety measures e.g. wet floor are reported and mopped immediately.
• Organize and send used instruments for decontamination and sterilisation to CSSD at the end of each clinic session.
• Inspect all instruments and equipment, accessories in consultation rooms.
• Carry out work as assigned or requested.

Education and Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in hospital/ clinic work.
• Be conversant in English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and oral.
