A leading medical institution in Kuala Lumpur seeks a competent and dedicated Perfusionist to provide safe, high-quality perfusion support. Responsibilities include monitoring patients during CPB, performing intraoperative autotransfusion, and ensuring effective teamwork within the healthcare environment. Candidates should have a diploma/degree in a relevant field and 3-5 years of experience. Communication skills are essential. We seek a competent and dedicated perfusionist to provide safe and high-quality perfusion support.
Monitors and maintains patient parameters during CPB. This includes the regulation of blood pressure, heart rate, urinary output, arterial and venous blood gases, acid/base status, blood coagulation, temperature, myocardial protection and constantly assesses mechanical parameters of the circuit.
Ensures proper management of the patient's physiologic functions by monitoring necessary variables.
Knowledgeable concerning the variety of equipment available to perform extracorporeal circulation functions and responsible for selecting the appropriate equipment and techniques to be used in clinical practice.
Performs intraoperative autotransfusion during procedures with significant blood loss, operating the device independently and ensuring a safe blood product.
Performs extracorporeal circulation functions, providing total life support safely and optimally during cardiac operative procedures including CABG, intracardiac valve repairs and replacements, congenital cardiac defect repairs, and aortic aneurysm repairs.
Provides technical management of the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump during invasive procedures in the operating room, ICU or catheterization laboratory.
Provides extracorporeal shunting of blood for selected patients to improve hemodynamic stability and control blood loss.
Performs ECMO and ECPR, providing long‑term total body circulatory support for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients with severe cardiac and/or pulmonary insufficiency.
Performs hemofiltration for excess intravascular and interstitial fluid removal from patients undergoing cardiac surgery and ECMO, including modified ultrafiltration in pediatric cardiac procedures.
Provides and delivers cardioplegia solution to the coronary artery system, inducing cardiac arrest and reducing myocardial metabolic rate as required for cardiac surgery.
Supports procedures involving catheterization labs such as IABP.
Provides ECMO transport services from referring health‑care systems as required.
Practices infection control and general cleanliness to prevent cross‑infection of patient, staff and equipment contamination.
Assists daily dusting and cleaning of all work surfaces and equipment.
Works as part of a health‑care team to assess patient needs, plan and modify care, and implement interventions.
Ensures effective coordination with other departments for timely delivery of patients' treatment and investigation.
Ensures a safe and healthy operating environment to achieve customer satisfaction.
Assists in the smooth running of operating cases (cardiothoracic) by performing supervisory roles.
Exceeds the standard and quality set in perfusion services.
Assists in the extracorporeal circulation specialist training course.
Assists with cardiothoracic surgery teaching for students and staff in current techniques of cardiopulmonary bypass.
Participates in service‑line on‑call responsibilities.
Establishes standard operating procedures and policies.
Manages customer complaints promptly.
Promotes and maintains effective teamwork and interdepartmental relationships.
Participates in equipment/product evaluation according to hospital policy.
Participates in corporate marketing and business development when necessary.
Participates actively in learning and development interventions identified by the company to acquire required knowledge and skills for current and/or future job requirements.
Involves in new projects or services/commissioning of new departments as assigned.
Manages resources and supplies to achieve optimum productivity and enhance cost containment, ensuring accurate charging.
Monitors inventory to ensure medical equipment is available and in good working condition at all times.
