Job description
Patient Support Supervisor (Temporary 5 Months)

MSF & KM6 carries out patient support through case management; a support strategy that is comprehensive and looks at all aspects of the patients’ life, in order to maximize health outcomes. This includes consideration the socioeconomic, documentation and health status of the patient. The Patient Support Supervisor will be overseeing this support, which is carried out by a team of 9 Community Case Workers. Interventions include making decisions on what meets MSFs’ financial criteria, creating rehabilitation plans, hospital visits, communicating with partners including UNHCR and carrying out hospital visits and family conferences.

In close collaboration with the Medical Activity Manager, supervising the implementation of patient support activities according to MSF & KM6 protocols, standards and procedures in order to empower the patient in front of his illness and treatment, beyond the purely medical aspects of care.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensuring each case is viewed by a Medical Doctor, management plan is put in place and communicated to the outreach team.
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring patient support tools (counseling/education protocols, health promotion messages, etc).
  • Actively supporting case management through communication, collection of information and clinical based decision‑making.
  • Ensuring, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of patient support activities according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures.
  • Ensuring good communication and collaboration with the other components of the project and other partners working on patient support.
  • Supervising and supporting the staff under his/her responsibility, planning and organizing their work including holiday planning.
  • In close collaboration with the HR department, supervising the associated HR processes (recruitment, training, induction, evaluation, potential detection, coaching, development and internal communication) in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required.
  • Ensuring data collection and analysis of patient support activities (collecting reports of patient support staff, summarizing reports, etc).
  • Managing the MSF medical hotline number including monitoring the calls as well as diverting the calls daily to the person on‑call.
  • Liaising with referral hospitals or clinic and follow‑up of cases when need arises.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND CONDITIONS
  • Essential recognized social work, nursing or medical degree/diploma; Desirable Bachelor in Science of Nursing
  • Desirable 4 years of work experience and previous experience in other NGOs
  • Demonstrable experience in supervising and training others in a team setting
  • Bahasa Malaysia and English essential
  • Essential: knowledge of Word, Excel and internet
  • Competencies: Results and quality orientation, teamwork and cooperation, behavioral flexibility, commitment to MSF Principles and stress management
