A healthcare facility in Puchong, Malaysia is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead nursing operations, ensuring high-quality patient care. The candidate must have a nursing degree, minimum 10 years of experience with 3 in management, and strong leadership skills. Responsibilities include supervising staff, manage daily operations, and promote resident well-being. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Conduct daily ward rounds and, where possible, random nursing rounds to ensure quality care is delivered to all residents.
Review the 24-hour nursing report daily for significant incidents and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are implemented.
Continuously monitor residents’ progress and stay informed of any potential litigation cases.
Monitor, follow up closely and report any adverse event within 24 hours to Director of Nursing and ECON Quality Assurance Committee.
Visit resident regularly following adverse event / incident reported and evaluate nursing care rendered.
Facilitate meetings with residents and families to discuss care plans and address concerns.
Promote family involvement in care decisions.
Support and coordinate resident admissions, documentation and care planning.
Conduct monthly meetings with the nursing team.
Submit monthly nursing reports to the Director of Nursing.
Oversee the daily operations of the Home Care facility, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and compassionate environment for all residents.
Work collaboratively with the operations team to plan and organize meaningful activities that enhance residents’ well‑being and engagement.
Coordinate with support teams including operations, housekeeping, kitchen, maintenance, and administrative staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
Manage staff roster, daily assignments, attendance, and performance-related matters and ensure provision of continuous twenty-four-hour nursing care.
Plan staff schedules based on grades, skill mix, and competencies to ensure optimal coverage.
Plan nursing manpower effectively and efficiently in accordance with Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia guidelines and standards.
Participate in the recruitment, interviews and selection of staff for the nursing service.
Promote staff retention by fostering a supportive work environment, recognizing staff contributions, and implementing initiatives that enhance job satisfaction and career development.
Provide and facilitate continuous nursing education (CNE) programs, ensuring that in-service training and Basic Life Support (BLS) courses are organized to help nurses update their knowledge and skills in current nursing practices. Additionally, motivate Assistant Nurse Managers (ANMs) in their professional growth and career development.
Assess registered nurses’ competencies and appraise the job performance of ANMs, new staff, existing Registered Nurses, and Health Care Assistants (HCAs).
Annual appraisal: Performing yearly evaluations for all nursing staff.
Coaching and counselling: Providing ongoing support and guidance to nursing staff.
Conduct regular drills and staff training for fire, medical emergencies, and evacuation procedures.
Lead the team in delivering consistent and excellent clinical and service quality to the residents and sponsors for ALL ECON Medicare Centre and Nursing Homes, Malaysia.
Lead and organize regular ECON Quality Assurance Committee (EQAC) meetings and ensure Sub-Committee champions and conduct their roles.
Responsible for the clinical quality of all residents guided by the “Four Zeros” clinical indicators – Zero Falls, Zero Medication Errors, Zero Nursing Home Acquired Pressure Ulcers and Zero Nursing Home acquired infection.
Providing guidance to Nurse Managers and Assistant Nurse Managers (ANM) on Clinical Nursing Quality and Safety.
Collaborating with ANMs and Senior Staff Nurses to identify gaps and initiate improvement projects.
Provide adequate supervision of all staff in carrying out their responsibilities in accordance with care guidelines, protocols and standards operating procedures.
Planning and executing nursing quality improvement activities and training staff on quality improvement tools and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Ensure nurses document residents’ clinical records in accordance with professional standards for effective communications, comprehensive assessment and good continuity of care among healthcare professionals.
Perform regular and random audits on adherence and compliance with the policies and procedures related to quality and safety systems. his includes (not limited to) documentation audits such as nursing notes, wound charts, and medication records.
Ensure nursing readiness for audits and inspections conducted by health authorities (e.g. KKM license renewal), including internal and cross-audits.
Implement infection control practices that are fit for purpose and initiate changes where appropriate to enhance safety and compliance.
Participate in review and revision of nursing policies and procedures.
Promote activities that contribute towards continuous improvement of care services.
Keep accurate records of all equipment, medical supplies and medication in the wards.
Cost-effective use of resources: Emphasis on evaluating consumables, supplies, dressing materials, and diapers.
Regular inspection and audits for clinical inventory management.
Collaborate with the nurses to prepare the proposal to justify the purchase of any biomedical equipment/medical & surgical supplies.
Coordinate with the operations team to organize supplier/vendor-led training sessions on the use of equipment and medical/surgical supplies.
Working with operations to resolve facility issues and maintain medical / nursing equipment, ensuring smooth operational flow and compliance.
Investigate and resolve all feedback and complaints received from residents and sponsors.
Assist in any investigation that is escalated to the Director of Nursing (DON).
Escalate any unfavorable and unresolved feedback to DON.
Maintain good communication skills with all residents and sponsors.
Assume any other additional responsibilities as assigned by DON.
Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
1. Degree in Nursing, preferably with post-basic certificates.
2. Experience in the elderly care sector and quality management will be an added advantage.
3. Minimum 10 years post qualification experience of which 3 years are in management position.
4. Comprehensive and thorough knowledge of general nursing theories and practices, including areas of nursing specialization.
