Job summary

A leading telecommunications company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Network/Senior Network Engineer to support IT operations. The role involves managing network devices and ensuring optimal performance and availability. Candidates should have a degree in Computer Science or IT and at least 3 years of experience, with strong skills in Cisco technologies and ITIL methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience with Cisco routers/switches.
  • Exposure to F5 Load Balancer and IDS/IPS is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts or 24x7 when needed.

The role ofNetwork/Senior Network Engineer is to support the IT operational activities of Project Infrastructure, supporting the Operation Manager to achieve the agreed SLAs as defined by the respective Master Service Agreement(s).

  • Support all Cisco Network devices and Checkpoint & Fortigate Firewalls, F5/Foundary/Radware load balacers, DNS, SDN, IPAM, Wireless,Tacacs and VPN
  • Configures, tests, and maintains LAN/WAN equipment and related services.
  • Perform regular monitoring and maintenance of the network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and availability
  • Comply to ITSM/ITIL methodologies in daily operation e.g. Change, Incident, Service Request & problem management.
  • Respond promptly to Network incident, root cause analysis & provide temporary and/or permanent resolution of incidents escalated
  • Collaborate with network administrators and engineers to design and implement network upgrades, expansions, and changes, ensuring minimal disruption to network services.
  • Maintain network documentation, including network diagrams configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for network equipment procurement, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT teams regarding network-related issues, troubleshooting steps, and preventive measures.
  • Monitor & measure the performance & availability of systems proactively; implement corrective actions identified to improve performance & service level availability.
  • Support service continuity measures i.e., backup/restore procedures & disaster recovery plan.

Skills for Success:

  • A Degree in Computer Science / IT or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience and above with hands-on experience in handling Ciscorouters/ switches/ LAN/ WAN or equivalent
  • Experience with F5 Load Balancer and IDS/IPS is a strong advantage for the role
  • Exposure in Cisco Wireless and ISE or equivalent is a plus
  • Strong technical competency with recognized professional certifications in either Network & Security or Systems domain
  • Ability to work on 12-hour shift or 24x7 whenever needed
