SouthState Bank - Mortgage Loan Officer

Essential Functions:

This position involves the following duties, tasks, and responsibilities:

  1. Interview loan applicants.
  2. Collect and analyze information regarding customer income, assets, investments, or debts.
  3. Determine the bank product that best fits the customer's needs.
  4. Provide advice to customers on the advantages and disadvantages of different products.
  5. Maintain knowledge of Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac guidelines and government products.
  6. Make preliminary determinations of applicant creditworthiness and issue prequalification statements of borrower eligibility.
  7. Establish relationships with realtors, builders, community development corporations, and other potential mortgage customers for loan referrals.
  8. Handle loan request processing in accordance with bank policies, regulatory requirements, and secondary market criteria.
  9. Adhere to quality customer service parameters and abide by written policies and procedures.
  10. Participate in community events and real estate industry functions to develop and promote business.
  11. Attend training on residential lending products, which may require travel.
  12. Advise management on new market products to keep the bank competitive.
  13. Promote and cross-sell other bank products.
  14. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
