Client Introduction
Our client is a prominent leader in large‑scale industrial processing and agricultural operations, dedicated to sustainable practices and maximising operational efficiency across their asset portfolio. They are seeking a dedicated professional to maintain and optimise the performance of their critical processing machinery.
Aim of the Job
To provide hands‑on engineering support to the Mill Manager, ensuring the entire plant operates at peak efficiency, maintains continuous uptime, and complies strictly with all internal operating policies, quality standards, and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities & Activities
1. Plant Maintenance and Optimization
- Lead the supervision of technicians to perform scheduled and emergency maintenance, repairs, and installations of all mill machinery and auxiliary equipment.
- Develop and rigorously implement a proactive Preventive Maintenance (PM) program for all plant machinery and systems to minimise unexpected downtime and extend asset lifespan.
- Ensure all machines are meticulously maintained for optimal processing efficiency and operational output targets.
2. Operational Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure strict compliance with all quality standards and safety regulations practised within the mill environment.
- Prepare detailed daily reports and maintain comprehensive engineer’s logbooks for proper shift handover and transparent performance tracking.
- Boiler and Steam Systems: Oversee operations and prepare technical paperwork related to the boiler and steam turbine systems, utilising specialised certification knowledge.
- Ensure prompt investigation and corrective action when processing losses exceed established company standards, providing clear explanations for any sustained deviation.
3. Team Leadership and Management
- Utilise leadership abilities to effectively lead and mentor a team of subordinate technicians.
- Efficiently arrange manpower and assign technical tasks to the maintenance team to match operational demands.
- Act as a key liaison with internal company staff (Operations, Estates) and external partners (vendors, suppliers).
Requirements
Basic Education & Professional Certification
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Mandatory: Must possess a valid Steam Engineer's Certificate of Competency (or equivalent relevant professional certification).
Experience & Technical Knowledge
- Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in maintenance and operations within a heavy industrial or processing plant environment.
- Proven ability to read technical drawings and prepare documentation related to plant operation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance scheduling, quality management systems, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
