MECHANICAL FABRICATION SPECIALIST

STINIS MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. seeks a MECHANICAL FABRICATION SPECIALIST to help design, test, and support upcoming projects by creating dependable, hardworking products that benefit our company’s development.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints for fabrication.
• Select raw materials based on engineering specifications.
• Operate cutting machines.
• Perform sheet metal fabrication using press brakes and rollers.
• Fabricate structural steel components according to layout plans.
• Use layout tools (dividers, scribers, templates) for accurate marking.
• Drill, tap, and ream holes manually or using machines.
• Perform grinding and edge preparation.
• Fabricate machine bases, brackets, frames, and housings.
• Fit and align rotating or sliding mechanical parts in fabrication.
• Perform mechanical repairs or modifications to fabricated parts.
• Inspect parts for warping or dimensional distortion post-fabrication.
• Grind or machine edges of cut plates to achieve required tolerances.
• Perform on-site fabrication and assembly if required.
• Create mock-ups or trial assemblies for new designs.
• Cut, form, and assemble metal ducts, guards, and enclosures.
• Fabricate platforms, ladders, and safety guardrails.
• Assemble mechanical structures for crane spreader frames or lifting beams.
• Fabricate and align high-load bearing parts.
• Assist in the integration of hydraulic and pneumatic components.
• Maintain and organize fabrication tools and consumables.
• Repair welding defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, etc.
• Preheat materials and post-weld heat treat where needed.
• Use back-gouging and grinding to prepare weld joints.
• Interpret welding symbols on fabrication drawings.
• Follow welding sequences to minimize distortion.
• Coordinate with welding inspectors for weld testing.
• Conduct weld fitting trials before final welding.
• Join heavy plates and complex structures with multiple passes.
• Maintain quality records for traceability.
• Perform fit-up inspection prior to handover to welding.
• Check visual conformity of fabricated parts against models.
• Carry out in-process inspections during critical stages.
