Job summary

A prominent oil and gas company in Johor Bahru is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 5 years of experience in chemical processing or related fields. The role involves developing and optimizing maintenance programs, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and overseeing equipment integrity. A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required, along with strong skills in equipment maintenance and team supervision. Qualifications

Job description
Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement and optimize preventative and predictive maintenance programs for critical process equipment

Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues promptly to minimize production downtime

Perform engineering calculations for pump sizing, pipe flow, heat transfer, and pressure vessel integrity

Oversee the mechanical integrity of key process units such as reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, pumps and compressors

Manage plant equipment eg. rotating & static for annual inspections, involvement in plant pipings systems, material selection for corrosion resistance and managing pipe stress

Provide daily mechanical engineering support for the continuous production process, including transesterification, distillation and purification

Develop and review P&IDs, equipment datasheets and mechanical drawings

Develop daily inspection plan for plant equipment’s

Conduct OEE, RCA and produce equipment data

Supervise day-to-day activities of the mechanical, electrical, instrument and chargeman teams

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance Engineering or related field

5 years of mechanical engineering experience in a chemical processing, refining or related industrial environment

Direct experience in biodiesel, biofuels or oleochemical plant is highly desirable

Good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of process equipment such as agitated reactors, pumps, heat exchangers and centrifuges

Strong troubleshooting skills with a hands‑on approach on rotating equipment, mechanical repairs, electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration and utilities

Experience in supervising electrical team is a strong advantage
