Job description
  • • Develop detailed 3D models and 2D technical drawings for automation machinery, jigs, fixtures, and robotic systems using CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
  • • Convert conceptual sketches or project requirements into accurate, manufacturable mechanical designs.
  • • Design components such as frames, brackets, linear stages, grippers, pneumatic systems, and enclosures for industrial automation.
  • • Ensure mechanical designs meet functional, structural, and safety requirements.
  • • Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and proper material specifications in drawings.
  • • Review and revise designs based on feedback from engineers, fabrication teams, or clients.
Project & Design Coordination
  • • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, control, and software teams to ensure full system integration and compatibility.
  • • Work closely with project engineers to ensure designs meet the technical scope, budget, and delivery timeline.
  • • Participate in project design review meetings and contribute design improvement ideas.
  • • Support engineers during assembly, testing, and commissioning stages to validate mechanical functionality.
  • • Coordinate with vendors or fabricators for feasibility checks, fabrication issues, or dimensional adjustments.
Fabrication & Manufacturing Support
  • • Prepare and release detailed fabrication drawings, assembly guides, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for production.
  • • Liaise with local and overseas fabricators to clarify technical details, tolerances, and assembly requirements.
  • • Review and approve fabrication samples or mock‑ups before full production.
  • • Assist in checking incoming parts and assemblies to ensure they match design specifications.

Documentation & Revision Control
  • • Maintain proper documentation of drawings, versions, and design change history according to company SOPs.
  • • Ensure all designs and drawings are properly named, filed, and backed up in the company’s document management system.

  • • Support ISO and audit requirements by maintaining complete and accurate design records.
Quality & Compliance
  • • Ensure designs comply with Codetrace’s internal standards, client specifications, and relevant industry codes (ISO, CE, or OSHA).
  • • Incorporate safety interlocks, ergonomic considerations, and ease of maintenance into all mechanical designs.
  • • Participate in design validation and quality inspection processes to confirm dimensional accuracy and assembly fit.
  • • Support mechanical testing and verification before handover.
  • • Suggest design modifications to improve functionality, reduce cost, or enhance manufacturability.
  • • Explore and propose the use of new materials, fasteners, or mechanical components to improve product performance.
  • • Collaborate with R&D teams to develop new mechanical prototypes or automation concepts.
  • • Stay updated on the latest CAD tools, manufacturing techniques, and mechanical design trends relevant to automation.
Technical Support & Communication
  • • Provide technical input to procurement and project teams regarding material specifications or supplier selections.
  • • Support the sales and costing teams by preparing preliminary design layouts and concept visuals for quotations.
  • • Communicate effectively with vendors, fabricators, and customers to clarify design‑related issues.

  • • Plan, organize, and execute automation, robotics, and system integration projects from start to completion.
  • • Review and understand project specifications, technical drawings, and client requirements.
  • • Assist in preparing project schedules, manpower allocation plans, and material requisitions.
  • • Coordinate between engineering, purchasing, and production teams to ensure project milestones are met.
  • • Track project progress, monitor deadlines, and report deviations to the Project Manager.

Technical Execution
  • • Carry out the installation, integration, and testing of automation equipment, robotic systems, and control panels.
