Job summary

About the job MARINE PILOT/ TRAINEE PILOT

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Pilot vessels within PTP Port Limits.
  • Respond to any marine emergencies.
  • Ensure pilotage service meets customer requirement.
  • Pilotage compliance with local and international regulations

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Advise and coordinate with Port Control staff for duties related to operation matters to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Responsible for the navigational safety of vessels arriving and departing, berthing, un-berthing, mooring, unmooring and anchoring to ensure safe and efficient marine services.
  • Seek advice and heed the instructions given by the Senior Pilot on duty, to ensure safe and efficient pilotage operations.
  • Monitor and supervise the efficiency of the tugboats, pilot boats, mooring services and their personnel, to ensure safe and efficient marine operations.
  • Ensure all communications equipment are in good working condition, and to report any irregularities with regards to navigation aids, marine pollution, accident and any other threats to the Senior Pilots and Port Control staff.
  • To submit the marine data on time to ensure the billing efficiency and for data input purposes.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess minimum qualification Class 4 (Master Near Coastal), Deck Officer COC or equivalent or higher with Pilot License from other ports (any class) or license by Johor Port Authority after successfully undergoing Trainee Pilot program.
  • Possess unrestricted pilot license from Johor Port Authority.
  • Deck Officer with at least 1-year experience as Watch Keeping Officer (WKO) onboard Foreign Going vessel.
  • Knowledge and skillful in ship handling and ship stability.
  • Good knowledge in the environment of local water and rules.
  • Knowledge in Local and International Convention, rules, regulations, acts and laws related to marine.
  • Knowledge in all marine emergency procedures.
  • Fluent in communication - spoken and written Malay & English languages.
