Epsom College in Malaysia seeks a dedicated and passionate Mandarin Teacher to join our academic team in April 2026. This role requires a commitment to fostering an engaging learning environment while promoting the holistic development of students in a nurturing boarding school atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Mandarin instruction tailored to the needs of Chinese foreign language teachers.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the whole school curriculum and curriculum delivery planning.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with departmental schemes of work, setting ambitious academic targets that reflect college-wide goals.

Assessment & Monitoring:

  • Assess learners in accordance with examination body requirements and the school’s assessment procedures.
  • Monitor and report on students’ progress, keeping parents informed through regular updates and during parent-teacher consultations.

Classroom Management & Student Support:

  • Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and growth.
  • Take on the role of tutor or mentor, offering guidance and support to students as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Support teacher to identify and support individual students with exceptional needs, ensuring that their requirements are appropriately addressed.

Extra-Curricular Involvement:

  • Lead or engage in a minimum of two extra-curricular activities weekly, aligning with the College's mission to nurture diverse talents.
  • Actively participate in school activities and events, including residential excursions, boarding house duties, performances and cultural celebrations to enrich the student experience.

Pastoral Care:

  • Work closely with the Housemaster/Housemistress and Deputy Headteacher (Pastoral) to support the well-being of students.
  • Maintain a positive and productive learning environment, adhering to the College's disciplinary policies.

Professional Development:

  • Attend staff meetings, contributing to collaborative discussions and initiatives.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching practices and contribute positively to the school community.
