Company Profile

Astute Fund Management Berhad ("Astute") was formerly known as Apex Investment Services Berhad. It was established in 1997 and has provided fund management services to investors for over 25 years. Astute is a licensed unit trust management company and asset management company. It is also an Institutional Unit Trust Adviser (IUTA) which allows the Company to distribute and deal in third‑party unit trust funds.

Astute actively invests in the Malaysia and the Asian stock markets. In addition, the Company has significant fixed income and money market investments.

Astute is regulated by Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FIMM).

The Company manages 8 equity unit trust funds. These funds are Astute Malaysia Growth Trust, Astute Quantum Fund, Astute Dynamic Fund, Astute Dana Al Sofi-I, Astute Dana Al Faiz-I, Astute Dana Aslah, Astute Asian (Ex Japan) Fund and Astute Maximiser Dividend Fund. It manages 1 money market fund, namely Astute Dana Al‑Kanz.

Qualifications / Skills

• Possess a degree qualification in accounting and/or professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, MICPA, CIMA, MIA)
• Well‑versed in Financial Reporting Standards, Tax Regulations and Unit Trust Industry legislations.
• 4‑6 years of experience in audit, accounting or asset management/unit trust company.
• Possess strong interpersonal, managerial and communication skills.
• Ability to multi‑task and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Organized, resourceful, analytical with problem‑solving skills.
• A member with Malaysian Institute of Accountants is an added advantage.
• Organized, meticulous, results‑oriented, self‑starter and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills, resourceful and ability to solve problem.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily NAV for Unit Trust Funds and monthly closing of company management accounts.
• Interim & Annual reports for the Unit Trust Funds and the Company’s accounts.
• Financial budgets and/or projections for the Unit Trust Funds and the Company accounts.
• Cash flow position of Unit Trust Funds and the Company account.
• Tax matters for the Unit Trust Funds and for the Company.
• Oversee the operational matters of the Finance department.
• Review the internal controls, accounting and management reporting systems.
• Liase with the Company Secretary, tax agent, external/internal auditors and system vendors.
