Manager - Repossession & Operation (NPL & Recovery Dept)
The Manager is responsible for leading repossession and operational improvement initiatives to achieve departmental targets, enhance efficiency, ensure compliance, and support strategic planning and project implementation within the NPL & Recovery Department.
Responsibilities
- To ensure staff adhere to the company’s internal policies and guidelines as well as Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and any regulatory requirements.
- To manage unit/section repossession and operation improvement staff in terms of operational daily activities, performance and administration, and daily and monthly reporting of performance/productivity to Head of Department or Senior Management.
- To achieve unit/section repossession and operation improvement targets set by Management on a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly basis and deliver good collection results.
- To ensure the unit’s overall contribution towards Non-Performing Loan (NPL) collection results to minimize impairment loss provision as per the company’s monthly, quarterly and yearly loss provision budget.
- To assess staff collection knowledge and recommend staff skill development programs.
- To relieve other Section Heads on operation support related matters to ensure operations run smoothly if required.
- To improve customer service standards and ensure the resolution of customer complaints within the stipulated timeline.
- To undertake any Management direction and participate in projects or tasks assigned by Management.
- To perform any ad-hoc tasks/matters assigned by Management.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Banking, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in collections, credit operations, or non-performing loan (NPL) recovery, preferably within a banking or financial institution.
- Strong knowledge of collections processes, repossession procedures, and NPL management.
- Proven track record in managing teams and achieving operational and collection targets.
- Familiarity with Malaysian legal frameworks, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) guidelines, and financial institution operations related to credit and recovery.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive operational improvements.
- Change management experience with a proactive and results-oriented approach to problem solving.
