Job description
Job Purpose

To lead and manage site-based electrical engineering execution for large-scale renewable energy project portfolios, ensuring all electrical works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with technical, contractual, and regulatory requirements. The role is accountable for on-site coordination, construction supervision, testing, commissioning, and handover of all electrical systems to achieve successful project completion and commercial operation.

Job Accountabilities / Key Result Area
1) Electrical & Power System Design
  • Manage and review all electrical design deliverables including single line diagrams (SLD), cable routing & sizing, MV/HV substation design, protection coordination, earthing & lightning protection systems, auxiliary power systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, MS), utility grid codes, and project specifications.
  • Review OEM designs (PCS, inverter, transformer, switchgear, SCADA, BESS if hybrid).
2) Grid Connection & Authority Approvals
  • Manage compliance to grid code requirements (e.g., reactive power, fault ride-through, frequency/watt control).
  • Facilitate submissions for energization permits and testing approvals.
3) Construction Management
  • Supervise installation of electrical works including MV/HV cables, substation installations, transformers, protection & control panels, earthing & bonding systems, telecommunication systems.
  • Ensure works comply with approved drawings and method statements.
  • Coordinate Interface Points between EPC, OEM vendors and grid utilities.
4) Testing, Commissioning & Performance
  • Lead FAT, SAT, pre-energization checks, and functional testing.
  • Coordinate commissioning schedule with EPC, OEM, and TNB/System Operator.
5) Quality, HSE, and Reporting
  • Ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements including inspections, tests, and commissioning.
  • Support HSE teams in implementing safe construction practices for power related activities.
  • Prepare progress reports, technical assessments, and risk updates for management.
6) Technical Engineering Support

To provide technical engineering support related to power on current projects at all stages of the project development cycle.

7) Team Development

To build and develop technical capabilities in the team by providing effective coaching, supervision and guidance to team members.

Minimum Essential Qualifications & Technical Competencies
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or commensurate level of experience/ achievements
  • Electrical Engineering or Renewables Engineering preferred
