The Role
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our Transaction Banking department as a Manager or Assistant Vice President, Trade Sales (Penang).
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for driving utilizations, revenue growth and new business growth from existing portfolio.
- Responsible to provide trade sales and marketing support to achieve the objective and financial target for trade finance.
- Drive target market segmentation and wallet sizing exercise, in order to develop strategies to enhance market share.
- Build pipelines and achieve closures / mandated deals.
- Perform tele-marketing and/or site visits to build close customer relationship.
- Review Trade Finance reports and identify customers for marketing effort to solicit for trade limit utilizations and non-trade financing products as well as to obtain feedbacks and suggestions.
- Identify potential customers through customers’ referrals, collection bills and export Letter of Credit advised by the bank; work together with Relationship Manager to explore business opportunities.
- Continuously follow-up with customers marketed to track results and initiate the required follow up actions.
- Support Relationship Managers for joint marketing calls and assist other business to maximize cross sell opportunities.
- Conduct trade related trainings to Relationship Managers.
- Conduct training to trade customers to instill product knowledge as well as deepen customers share of trade wallet.
- Obtain market intelligence, establish network and update database of competitor’s offering.
- Liaise with Trade Operations to ensure that customer service levels are maintained at all times.
- Prepare regular reports on sales progress for monitoring purposes.
- Work closely with business units for customer referrals and conduct product briefing/training to instill product knowledge as well as deepen customers share of wallet.
- Work with Implementation, Operations, Marketing, Product Management Team & other technical team to ensure high quality delivery throughout the sales process.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis on products/services.

Education / Knowledge
- Well versed with the relevant International Chambers of Commerce (ICC) rules related to International Trade (e.g. UCP600, URC 522, Incoterms).

- Knowledge of market trends and current developments.
- Strong business environment awareness and sensitivity to business issues.
- In-depth knowledge of trade product and operational procedures and leverage their applications to provide first‑rate service to all contacts.
- Exposure to Vendor Financing would be an added advantage.
Experience
- Experience in developing sales strategies and performance metrics.
- Awareness of market competition and trends.
- At least 5 years’ direct & in‑depth experience in Trade Sales and Business Development; Relationship Managers are also encouraged (especially in Corporate/Commercial) that are familiar with Trade Facilities.
