Manager / Assistant Manager (Rewards & Industrial Relations)

This role is designed for a candidate who is a ‘rare hybrid’—possessing the analytical precision to manage Total Rewards and the diplomatic strength to lead Industrial Relations within a unionised manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Total Rewards (Compensation & Benefits)
- Market Benchmarking: Conduct annual salary and benefits benchmarking to ensure SIB remains competitive within the industry.
- Cycles & Budgeting: Lead the end‑to‑end execution of annual salary reviews, performance‑based bonuses, and increment cycles.
- Framework Design: Design and implement robust salary structures and benefits programmes aligned with group objectives.
- Cost Optimisation: Analyse manpower costs and provide the HOD with strategic data for group‑wide budgeting and financial forecasting.
2. Industrial Relations & Union Governance
- Collective Bargaining: Act as a key member of the management’s negotiating team for Collective Agreement (CA) renewals, ensuring sustainable outcomes for the business.
- Union Diplomacy: Foster trust‑based, proactive relationships with Union representatives to preempt industrial disputes and maintain shop‑floor harmony.
- Disciplinary Management: Oversee the grievance process and lead the conduct of Domestic Inquiries (DI) in accordance with legal best practices.
3. HR Compliance, Policy & Reporting
- Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the internal consultant on the Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, and Trade Union Act.
- Governance: Ensure all company policies are updated, compliant with current Malaysian Labour Laws, and effectively communicated.
- Digital Modernisation: Support the HOD in enhancing HRMS utilisation to automate C&B processes and improve data integrity.
- Strategic Reporting: Prepare comprehensive manpower cost analyses and labour productivity reports for senior management review.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in HR, with a mandatory background in unionised manufacturing environments.
- Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency for compensation modelling.
- A firm grasp of Malaysian Labour Laws and statutory requirements.
- High emotional intelligence with a ‘firm but fair’ approach to discipline.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both factory workers and senior management.
- A resilient personality with proven negotiation skills.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Law, or a related field.
- Immediate start or a short notice period is highly preferred.
