Manager / Assistant Manager (Rewards & Industrial Relations)

At Sapura Industrial Berhad, we believe our people are the heart of our 40-year legacy in automotive excellence. As we transform into a future-focused industrial partner, we are seeking a resilient and data-driven HR professional to join our Group HR & Administration team.

This role is designed for a candidate who is a ‘rare hybrid’—possessing the analytical precision to manage Total Rewards and the diplomatic strength to lead Industrial Relations within a unionised manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Total Rewards (Compensation & Benefits)
  • Market Benchmarking: Conduct annual salary and benefits benchmarking to ensure SIB remains competitive within the industry.
  • Cycles & Budgeting: Lead the end‑to‑end execution of annual salary reviews, performance‑based bonuses, and increment cycles.
  • Framework Design: Design and implement robust salary structures and benefits programmes aligned with group objectives.
  • Cost Optimisation: Analyse manpower costs and provide the HOD with strategic data for group‑wide budgeting and financial forecasting.
2. Industrial Relations & Union Governance
  • Collective Bargaining: Act as a key member of the management’s negotiating team for Collective Agreement (CA) renewals, ensuring sustainable outcomes for the business.
  • Union Diplomacy: Foster trust‑based, proactive relationships with Union representatives to preempt industrial disputes and maintain shop‑floor harmony.
  • Disciplinary Management: Oversee the grievance process and lead the conduct of Domestic Inquiries (DI) in accordance with legal best practices.
3. HR Compliance, Policy & Reporting
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the internal consultant on the Employment Act 1955, Industrial Relations Act 1967, and Trade Union Act.
  • Governance: Ensure all company policies are updated, compliant with current Malaysian Labour Laws, and effectively communicated.
  • Digital Modernisation: Support the HOD in enhancing HRMS utilisation to automate C&B processes and improve data integrity.
  • Strategic Reporting: Prepare comprehensive manpower cost analyses and labour productivity reports for senior management review.
Requirements
  • 5–8 years of experience in HR, with a mandatory background in unionised manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency for compensation modelling.
  • A firm grasp of Malaysian Labour Laws and statutory requirements.
  • High emotional intelligence with a ‘firm but fair’ approach to discipline.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both factory workers and senior management.
  • A resilient personality with proven negotiation skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Law, or a related field.
  • Immediate start or a short notice period is highly preferred.
