Job summary

A manufacturing company in Malaysia is looking for a results-driven Factory Manager to lead the establishment and operations of their production line for the Trimdrive Propellor. The ideal candidate will oversee factory setup, ensure efficient manufacturing processes, and lead a local team. This role requires a minimum of 7 years of management experience in manufacturing, particularly in consumer electronics, and strong skills in quality control, production planning, and team building. A passion for diving and water sports is an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in factory setup/NPI and managing full production operations in Malaysia.
  • Strong expertise in supply chain management.

  • Lead end-to-end factory setup and operations including layout planning and equipment procurement.
  • Recruit, train, and manage production supervisors and assembly line workers.
  • Manage daily production schedules, workforce planning, and inventory.
  • Drive continuous improvement (Lean, Kaizen) to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Serve as primary liaison between R&D and the factory.

Job Overview

We are hiring a results-driven Factory Manager to establish and oversee the production line for our flagship Trimdrive Propellor (TDP). You will be responsible for building a local team, setting up efficient manufacturing processes, and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality products on time and within cost targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end factory setup and operations, including layout planning, equipment procurement, and line qualification.
  • Recruit, train, and manage production supervisors, technicians, and assembly line workers.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality control plans, and safety protocols for all manufacturing processes.
  • Manage daily production schedules, workforce planning, inventory (raw materials & WIP), and output to meet shipment plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement (Lean, Kaizen) to optimize efficiency, yield, and reduce costs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between R&D (Singapore/Taiwan) and the factory, ensuring smooth New Product Introduction (NPI) and resolving production issues.
  • Manage relationships with local suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Be accountable for factory P&L, budgeting, and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in consumer electronics, electromechanical assembly, or precision engineering.
  • Proven track record in factory setup/NPI and managing full production operations in Malaysia is ESSENTIAL.
  • Strong expertise in quality management systems, production planning, and supply chain management.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills with experience building teams.
  • Practical problem-solving skills (e.g., Root Cause Analysis) and fluency in English and Malay. Mandarin is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant local labor laws and regulations.
  • Passion for diving and water sports is a significant advantage.
