A logistics company in Malaysia is seeking a Logistics and Customs Manager to optimize supply chain operations. The successful candidate will manage third-party logistics providers, negotiate rates, and ensure compliance with Malaysian customs regulations. A degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience are required. Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills are essential. To ensure efficient, cost-effective, and fully compliant logistics and customs operations for both domestic and international shipments. This role is pivotal in optimizing our supply chain, maintaining our Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW) status, and ensuring on-time delivery to customers.
Manage and monitor the performance of third-party logistics (3PL) providers, including customs brokers, freight forwarders, warehouse, and transportation suppliers.
Negotiate with shipping lines, forwarders, and transporters to secure optimal freight rates, inland transportation rates, and sailing schedules based on agreed delivery terms (Incoterms).
Coordinate the timely inbound of raw materials and outbound of finished goods, working closely with Production and Planning teams.
Recommend the most advantageous transportation modes, routing, and equipment to internal teams.
Oversee end-to-end import and export declaration processes, ensuring full compliance with Malaysian customs regulations.
Prepare, check, and verify all customs documentation for accuracy and timely submission.
Act as the primary liaison with customs authorities and appointed agents to resolve any clearance issues promptly.
Take full responsibility for the annual renewal of the company's LMW license.
Prepare and submit accurate monthly and yearly reports to the relevant authorities as required by the LMW agreement.
Ensure all LMW-related operational procedures are strictly followed.
Proactively identify and troubleshoot issues related to international freight transportation and customs clearance.
Analyze logistics data to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Perform any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the management.
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Certification in Customs is a strong advantage.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or a customs-related role within Malaysia.
Working exposure in the manufacturing industry, proven experience in handling LMW renewal and reporting.
In-depth knowledge of the Malaysian Customs Act, import/export procedures, and HS code classification.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for data analysis) and experience with ERP systems.
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to work.
