Job description
Key Responsibilities
  1. Linguistic & Cultural Policy Alignment
    1. Policy Translation and Interpretation: Act as the primary Japanese SME to translate, review, and localize policy documents, ensuring accuracy, cultural relevance, and compliance with local Tokyo regulations (e.g., traffic laws and signage).
    2. Risk Mitigation: Analyze and interpret complex Japanese language data (e.g., ambiguous signboards) to inform policy d

      ecisions and mitigate misclassification risks.

  2. Training and Operational Readiness
    1. Knowledge Transfer (KT): Assist Policy in KT sessions to ensure accurate interpretation of Japanese data and adherence to local policies by trainers and operators.
    2. Training Localization: Localize training materials and create targeted supplements for Japanese Operations, using high-impact examples to maximize learning efficacy.
    3. SME Consultation: Provide real-time consultation to Operations on complex, ambiguous Japanese language cases to reduce mislabeling and maximize output quality.
    4. Workflow Optimization: Analyze Japanese queue bottlenecks and quality trends to propose initiatives for improved labeling throughput and efficiency.

  3. Quality, Audit, and Performance
    1. Audit Support and Dispute Resolution: Provide real-time translation and interpretation support to Audit and Quality teams for accurate resolution of Japanese-language labeling disputes.
    2. Quality Standard Setting: Partner with the Quality Team to define quality metrics and standards accommodating the unique linguistic and regulatory complexity of the Tokyo dataset.
    3. Impact Reporting: Track the effectiveness of new policies and training, reporting on the quality impact of linguistic errors to reduce labeling defects on Japanese-specific queues.
    4. Key Policy Insight: Actively document and share key policy insights and error patterns from the Tokyo market with the broader Policy Team to improve policy formulation and complexity handling.

Required Qualification
  1. Language Proficiency: Requires Native/near-native Japanese fluency (JLPT N1 or equivalent) and professional working proficiency in English.
  2. Local Knowledge: Requires strong, practical understanding of Japanese local context, culture, and public signage/traffic regulations in major metropolitan areas, especially Tokyo.
  3. Experience: 3+ years of experience in translation, interpretation, or localization, ideally within a similar project in nature.
  4. Skills: Proven analytical skills, ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable policies
Desired Requirement
  1. Prior experience supporting data labeling, QA, or policy teams in a large-scale operational environment.
  2. Experience working with or providing product-based feedback.
  3. Proficiency in creating and maintaining formal business documentation, such as policies and training manuals.

Other requirement
  1. Required to collaborate effectively with the Hyderabad team, including accommodating overlapping shift hours.
  2. Flexible Location: Must adhere to the hiring manager's requirements regarding the work setting (remote-WFH).
  3. Comprehensive Accountability: Hold end-to-end accountability and ownership for the Japanese market, driving all relevant outcomes.
