Job summary

A legal firm in Malaysia is seeking a qualified legal professional to handle contentious and advisory labor and employment matters. The candidate should have a strong law degree and experience in corporate and commercial law as well as labor law. Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing agreements, legal due diligence, and attending court. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. The position is based in Mont Kiara.

Qualifications

  • Must have experience in corporate and commercial law, and/or in-house legal work.
  • Experience in labor and employment law (advisory and/or litigation) is required.
  • Strong command of English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and review corporate and commercial agreements.
  • Conduct legal and corporate due diligence.
  • Advise on restructuring exercises and contractual risk.
  • Draft pleadings and other legal documentation.
  • Attend court for case managements, hearings, and trials.

You will be required to handle both contentious and advisory labour and employment matters, including workplace disputes, industrial relations issues, disciplinary and dismissal cases, the drafting and review of HR policies, and advising on employment regulatory compliance.

  • Advising on restructuring exercises and contractual risk.
  • Drafting pleadings, cause papers and other legal documentation.
  • Attending court for case managements, hearings and trials.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • A strong law degree from a reputable university.
  • Experience in corporate and commercial law and/or in-house legal work.
  • Experience in labour and employment law (advisory and/or litigation).
  • Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent drafting, organisational, communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Willingness to work in Mont Kiara.
