Overview

TopNotch HR Consulting Firm – Kuala Selangor, Selangor

Responsibilities
  • Create new templates and review/amend a variety of agreements.
  • Undertakes legal research and assists with preparation of draft advice.
  • Reports and updates to the General Counsel, Malaysia.
  • Assist General Counsel and Legal Counsels in any projects, engagement or assignment, as and when required.
  • Conducting legal analysis on new product initiatives
  • Liaise with regional Grab legal counsels in the region, as required.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external vendors, as required.
  • To keep updated as to important legal and/or compliance related information including changes in important laws in the region in relation to the company’s business.
  • If required, to assist with administrative legal tasks.
Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, research skills and able to advise on any commercial contracts related to company’s business (e.g. e-hailing and e-money laws, contracts, companies, competition, e-money, IP laws), including but not limited to providing advice on labour laws, consumer protection laws;
  • Must-have in depth experience in civil litigation and commercial real estate negotiation;
  • Having strong legal, analytical, communication and presentation skills (commensurate with the candidate’s experience);
  • Supervising and coordinating with the external lawyers to be in accordance with the company’s direction and/or strategies;
  • Having an ability to understand the business, commercial requirements, company’s strategies and directions, its people and its organisational structures;
  • Having awareness of legal and commercial risks as well as the ability to balance such risks against business benefits, with appropriate mitigation measures taken;
  • Having an ability to work under immense pressure, multi task, efficient and with minimal supervision;
  • Able to carry out regular legal research and provide legal updates on current legal issues;
  • Having creative thinking to contribute the legal initiatives (e.g. risk management, training, standard contracts review, etc.) as assigned by direct report; and
  • Assist the General Counsel with any matters related to the above.The must haves:
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Law from a recognised university with a 2:1
  • Called to the English Bar or Malaysian Bar
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, Bahasa Melayu language (including legal language and terminology)
  • 5-6 years PQE in a reputable law firm, with a preference of 2-3 years in-house counsel in multi- national company.
  • Having experience in relevant areas of the company’s business including, commercial contracts, competition issues, corporate matters, litigation and e-money. Preference will be given to candidates with competition and litigation background
