Job summary

An intellectual property law firm in Kuala Lumpur seeks a candidate to advise clients on various IP matters, handle legal registrations, and draft relevant documents. The ideal applicant should have at least a Bachelor's degree in Law and preferably over a year of experience in the IP field. Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia are essential, along with good computer proficiency in MS Office. This full-time role offers the ability to work remotely when necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Advise clients on various IP matters relevant to their nature of business, e.g., trademarks, patent, industrial design, copyright etc.
  • Handle all legal matters (office actions, oppositions, objections, hearings etc.) and non-legal matters pertaining to the registration of Intellectual Property.
  • Assist in drafting, vetting, reviewing search reports, status reports, journals, letters, agreements and other legal/non-legal documents.
  • Monitor file statuses and meet deadlines.
  • Monitor incoming emails and/or work matters on a daily basis.
  • Update internal case files and statuses on a weekly basis.
  • Report to the COO, Head of Department & Management team.
  • Maintain business relationships with existing and/or new clients.
  • Ensure all work matters assigned are processed and handled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Coordinate, enhance and manage all cases assigned.
  • Assist in ad-hoc activities including conducting seminars, writing articles and drafting monthly newsletters (when required).
  • Achieve personal and department work KPI as set.
Qualifications
  • Must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Degree, Professional Degree or other equivalent certification in Law.
  • CLP holders, lawyers called to the Bar or non- practicing lawyers are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Preferably a candidate with minimum 1 year working experience in the IP field.
  • Candidates without any IP experience are also welcomed to apply.
Additional Information

1 Full time position(s) available. Possess own transportation and willing to travel; outstation traveling will be required on an ad-hoc basis. Able to work remotely from home when required.

Have good command in English, Bahasa Malaysia and other languages or dialects (will be an added advantage). Possess good computer skills in MS Office, especially Word, Excel and Power Point.

Must be meticulous and committed to providing quality services to clients. Possess good time management skills and able to work on tight deadlines. Ability to plan and execute sales activities to meet assigned sales target. Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work under minimal supervision and independently with self-initiative. Possess analytical thinking ability and problem-solving skills. Able to work coherently and closely as a team. Willing to have open communication among colleague and team members.
