JOB DESCRIPTION

AirAsia X is seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team!

YOUR ROLE AS A

As part of the Legal Department, you will play a key role in providing strategic legal advice, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and supporting the organization in achieving its business goals while mitigating legal risks.

WHAT YOU’LL CHAMPION

The function and responsibilities are to coordinate, supervise, monitor implementation, plan and develop the department.

  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including but not limited to aircraft leases, supplier contracts, and service agreements.
  • Advise on legal matters related to aviation regulations, compliance, and licensing requirements.
  • Provide legal support and guidance to various departments, including Operations, Finance, Procurement, and People.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on regulatory changes, industry developments, and best practices.
  • Assist in resolving legal disputes, claims, and other matters as they arise.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel and relevant government or regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Support the development and implementation of company policies, procedures, and governance frameworks to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards.
  • Provide proactive and practical legal advice that supports the business in achieving its objectives efficiently and ethically.
  • Support other legal initiatives and projects as assigned by the General Counsel or senior management.

WHO YOU ARE
  • A qualified lawyer with a Law Degree and professional legal qualification (Bar admission or equivalent).
  • Minimum 6–7 years post‑qualification experience, preferably as in‑house counsel within a medium to large international corporation.
  • Experience in aviation, transportation, or regulated industries will be an advantage.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; ability to speak and/or read Mandarin is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills — able to explain legal concepts clearly to non‑lawyers and provide succinct, actionable advice.
  • Sound understanding of commercial, corporate, and regulatory law, with exposure to international civil and/or common law contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and interpret contracts with a clear understanding of business and commercial intent.
  • Strong influencing, negotiating, and facilitation skills.
  • Confident in developing and sustaining relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
